Abstract: A simple method to solve a specific type of Bessel's equations is proposed in this work. Several examples are given to illustrate the use of the proposed method and to demonstrate its simplicity. It has the advantage over the traditional approach for coming to an expedient solution in all circumstances.

Abstract: Daucus carota roots  were chosen for this study in order to examine both their phytochemicals and antioxidant activity (free radical scavenging activity). Ethanol was used to extract the plant's roots' powder sample. n-hexane, chloroform, ethyl acetate, and methanol were used to macerate the crude ethanol extract, which was then screened for alkaloids, flavonoids, saponins, tannins, and water-soluble phenols. Thin Layer Chromatography (TLC) analysis was performed on the crude extract as well as on the other fractions. For the optimum separation of the phytochemicals present in the fractions, solvent systems were designed. Chloroform:Ethyl Acetate was chosen as the solvent system for TLC of the n-hexane, methanol, and ethanol fractions (1:1). 100% of chloroform was used for the chloroform fraction. The phytochemical analysis established the presence of water-soluble phenols, saponins, and flavonoids. The results of the TLC study have shown different spots. According to the results of the antioxidant activity test, the ethanol fraction has a higher level of antioxidant activity than the other fractions.

Abstract: The study investigates the fractional time derivatives of air flow process across vertical openings in rectangular building by Caputo sense. Governing equations of air flow are solved analytically by Laplace transform technique and method of undetermined coefficient to obtain the solutions in Laplace domain. The solutions are inverted from the Laplace domain back to the time domain by the Riemann-sum approximation approach. The influence of the different flow parameters such as fractional order(α) , Prandtl number (Pr) , effective thermal coefficientθ0  and discharge coefficient (cd)  are plotted in graphs. In the course of investigation, it is found that the increase or decrease in fractional order (α)  between the interval of 0<α<1  the temperature profile and velocity profile will increase or decrease while the volumetric air flow and mass transfer will only decrease as fractional order increase.

Abstract: This research explores the possibility of synthesizing surfactant using vegetable oil from Afzelia africana seeds through a two-step transesterification and sulfonation processes. The oil was extracted by Soxhlet using n-hexane as the solvent. Characterization in terms of physicochemical parameters gave the following results: 24.72 % oil yield, a value that compares favourably with other fatty acids used for similar applications, specific gravity of 0.93, refractive index of 1.48, saponification value of 204.03 (mgKOH/g), an acid value of 5.6 (mgKOH/g), and an iodine value of 105.75 (Wij’s) respectively. These values indicated that the semi-drying oil is suitable for the synthesis of surfactant. The oil was transesterified using ethanol with KOH catalyst. The ester product underwent sulfonation with NaHSO₃ as the sulfonation agent using Al₂O₃ catalyst. The sulfonated product was purified with ethanol and neutralised with NaOH. Both the fatty acid ethyl ester (FAEE) and the fatty acid ethyl ester sulfonate (FAEES) were analysed using Fourier Transform Infra-Red Spectroscopy which showed that both compounds contain their characteristic functional groups: the FAEE had a C=O stretch at 1736.9 cm^-1 among other peaks, while the FAEES also showed a C=O stretch at 1640.0 cm^-1; 1230 cm^-1 for the sulfonate group, 1140.6 cm^-1 for the S=O group, and 924.4 cm^-1 which indicated S-O group. These functional groups established the synthesized moiety to be a sulfonated ester (surfactant). Therefore, the results from this study show that A. africana seed oil can be a viable alternative feedstock for the production of surfactant for application across the chemical industry.

Abstract: This paper studies the fractional L’Hospital’s rule based on Jumarie type of Riemann-Liouville (R-L) fractional derivative. A new multiplication of fractional analytic functions plays an important role in this article. On the other hand, we provide some limit problems to illustrate the applications of fractional L’Hospital’s rule. In fact, these results we obtained are generalizations of those in ordinary calculus.

Abstract: Covid-19 has spread throughout the globe, killed millions of people, shattered economies of even the superpower countries and made people to change their way of living since it was discovered in wuhan, china. Covid-19 reached kenya on march 2020 when the ministry of health announced the first positive case in the city of Nairobi from an international traveller. Understanding the transmission dynamics and effective control measures have been crutial for researchers in creating mathematical models and determining the transmission potential of covid-19 in new areas. Our research aims to determine the effect of gender-based stigmatization in the spread of covid-19 and therefore we developed a (S, E_m, E_f, I_m, I_f, T, Q, R) mathematical model of Covid-19 comprising of eight compartments; Susceptible (S), Exposed male (E_m), Exposed female (E_f), Infected male (I_m), Infected female (I_f), Treatment (T), Stigmatized (Q)and Recovered (R). We used the next generation matrix approach to calculate the reproduction number R₀, explore the occurrence of equilibrium points, both disease-free and endemic, and analyze their stabilities. We used MATLAB to solve and generate the numerical solutions of the model differential equations. After interpretation the results show that increase of stigmatization, increases the infection rate of of covid-19 and decrease of stigmatization decreases the infection rate of covid-19 for both male and female.Hence we recommended that the government and relevant authorities should use this report to curb stigmatization through sensitization,awareness, speaking against negative stereotypes and providing the necessary support required by encouraging people to take tests and seek healthcare immediately they start showing covid symptoms.
