Abstract: Immunizations are a common source of iatrogenic pain in children which can cause long-term psychologically detrimental effects. Measures to reduce needle associated pain among children have been examined with inconclusive evidence.

Purpose: The current study aimed to compare the effect of non-pharmacological pain control measures in reducing vaccine associated pain and anxiety in pediatric primary healthcare centers in Saudi Arabia.

Methods: A quasi-experimental study was conducted with 100 preschoolers undergoing immunization in three primary healthcare centers in Qasem, Saudi Arabia. The participants were divided into intervention and control groups. The intervention group was subdivided into Therapeutic Toy, Video Games, Role-playing, Comfortable Position, and Wrist Water Toy subgroups.  Wong-Baker, Ontario Pain, Anxiety Rating and Visual Facial Anxiety Scales were used to measure pain and anxiety.

Results: Children who received pain control measures while being vaccinated reported less pain and anxiety compared to those who received routine care. The use of interactive distraction methods (e.g. Wrist Water Toy and Video Games) reduced reports of pain, while passive distraction methods (e.g. Therapeutic Toy) reduced reports of anxiety.

Conclusions: Our findings are in support with long standing recommendations to use interactive distraction methods to reduce vaccine associated pain and anxiety.

Abstract: Not only health professionals have been learning infection control concepts currently, but the entire world has been learning infection prevention and control techniques during the Corona virus. Hospital-acquired infection, also known as a nosocomial infection, is a global issue that continues to be the leading cause of death in all clinical settings. This research was aimed to evaluate the effect of infection control guidelines on nurses' performance among medical-surgical and obstetrics - gynecological departments during corona virus. Design A quasi-experimental research design (pre and/or post-test) was conducted. Settings: The current investigation took place at Menoufia University Hospital's medical-surgical and obstetrics-gynecological departments in Menoufia Governorate, Egypt. Sample: 138 nurses who are working in the above departments were selected as a purposive sample in this research. Instruments: Three instruments were used for data collection; the first instrument consists of two parts: sociodemographic characteristics of nurses and their awareness of infection control standards. The second instrument was an observational checklist for nurses' behaviors and performance about infection control rules. The third instrument: Assessment sheet for factors that impede infection control process during corona virus. Results: The nurse's awareness and performance of infection prevention practices improved following the intervention, according to the results of this research. In addition, the nurse's level of knowledge and practice had a positive relation. Conclusion: After the guidelines intervention, the nurses' awareness and habits related to infection control rules improved significantly. Recommendations: Onsite scheduled periodic training updating program courses should become an integral part of all hospital training for nurses and there should be a continuous follow-up and appraisal of the nurses' performance frequently regarding the infection control guidelines.

Abstract: Children with leukemia are at a high risk for hepatitis c infections due to immune suppression secondary to chemotherapy blood, and blood products transfusion during the course of their disease. Role of community health nursing is to prompt healthy behavior to help people to access at various stage of their lives and their ability to accomplish their roles. Health educational program to the mothers of children with leukemia children associated with virus hepatitis “C” will reinforce the family’s progress toward understanding the diagnosis, treatment program, side effect and complication of therapy. Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of educational health program for mothers having children suffering from leukemia associated with hepatitis C virus. Setting This study was conducted in Outpatient clinic at National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, Egypt. Subject: It was purposive sample for all mothers accompanying their children suffering from leukemia associated with hepatitis (C) virus (HCV) within nine months. It was 80 mothers. Instruments: As following I) Structured interviewing questionnaire, assessment of mothers knowledge, practice and their adjustment. II) Observational checklist for mothers practices, III) child health assessment.  Results: More than one third of mothers 27.5% were secondary school educational level. More than two third 67.5% of children with leukemia associated with hepatitis c virus were male. All children 100% received blood transfusion more than one time. Mothers adjustment toward their children with leukemia associated with hepatitis C virus were less than one fourth 7.5% were good preprogram implementation while post program more than one third 26.3% were good. Conclusion: There was significant positive correlation between knowledge, practice and adjustment preprogram implementation while post program implementation shows that there was highly significant correlation between knowledge, practice and mother’s adjustment. Recommendations: Continuous assessment for the level of knowledge and practices of mothers having children with leukemia associated with hepatitis C virus to met their needs.

Abstract: Pressure controlled-volume guaranteed mode combines the benefits of both pressure controlled ventilation and pressure controlled ventilation modes for the mechanically ventilated patients in ICUs Aim: is to assess weaning outcomes of the mechanically ventilated patient after using Pressure controlled ventilation-volume guaranteed and synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation mode Design: A quasi-experimental research design. Setting: General intensive care unit at Assuit university hospital. Patients and methods: Purposive sample of 80 patients who were intubated for >24 hrs, divided into two groups equally, study group (PCV-VG group) and control group (SIMV-VC group). Pressure controlled ventilation-volume guaranteed mode was selected for study group and control group patients was mechanically ventilated on synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation  mode Tool I : Patient assessment Tool II: Mechanical ventilator parameters assessment Tool III: Weaning outcomes assessment Results: Concerning weaning outcomes; 57% of SIMV-VC  group experienced weaning failure versus 35% in PCVG group, more than half of SIMV group re-intubated versus one third in PCVG group and less duration of mechanical ventilation for PCVG group versus SIMV group. Conclusion: Pressure controlled-volume guaranteed mode was more effective than synchronized intermittent mandatory ventilation mode in improving weaning outcomes Recommendations: Provide ICU nurses an educational program about Pressure controlled volume guaranteed and nursing care to improve waning outcomes.

Abstract: well-ordered educational strategies for the teaching of both novice and practiced extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) for critical care nurses is essential for the constant function of the ECMO program. Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of a video-assisted teaching intervention on critical care nurse’s knowledge regarding extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. Design: A quasi-experimental (pre/post-test design). Setting of the study critical care units at Al-Thawra Modern General Hospital Authority in Sana’a-Yemen. The method Sample was (75) critical care nurses that of all nurses working in the selected setting. Tool: ECMO Pre/Post Nurses Questionnaire. The implementation phase was displayed to five videos sessions to describe video-assisted teaching methods knowledge as well as, to the preliminary one; every session takes about 45 minutes. Results from the application of the video-assisted teaching program shown the enhancement of critical care nurse's knowledge level as regards extracorporeal membrane oxygenation. There has been observed (100%) unsatisfactory level in pre-implementation of the developed ECMO care and (88%) satisfactory level immediately post-implementation of the developed ECMO care but a decrease of the satisfactory level to (84%) with high statistical significance difference between pre, immediately post and three months post-application programs, (p<0.001). In conclusion, it can conclude that applying for the video-assisted teaching program about extracorporeal membrane oxygenation is extremely effective in inducing improvement in nurses' knowledge level.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to evaluate effect of an educational program on nurses' knowledge and practice regarding complication of pulmonary embolism. A quasi experimental research design with pre and post-test assessment was used on 75 participants of nurses working in the medical, surgical and emergency ICU at Al-Thawra Modern General Hospital Authority in Sanaa - Yemen. Tools utilized for data collection were nursing questionnaire sheet was used to assess nurses' knowledge, an observation checklist for their practice. The results showed marked deficiencies in nurses’ knowledge and practices before the program, with statistical significant differences improvements at the post and follow-up evaluations (P<0.000). Conclusion: there was statistical significant difference between the nurse knowledge and practice in pre/post and follow up implementing the program. Therefore, a relatively short-term in service training programs for all nurses working in the medical, surgical and emergency ICU department is implemented to enable nurses to update their knowledge and practice.

Abstract: This present study investigated the antidiabetic effect of ethanolic extract of clerodendrum volume on alloxan induced diabetic rats.

Diabetes is a metabolic disorder characterized by impaired utilization and in the underlying factor for both hypoglycaemia and hyperglycaemia. Herbal medicinal plants are know emerging as substitute to drug due to their very low side effect. Clerodendrum volubile is one of such plant. This study investigated the antidiabetic activity of clerodendrum volubile on alloxan induced diabetics in male wistar albino rat.

The proximate analysis, phytochemical screening, mineral analysis where determined to which evaluated the chemical constituent of this plant phytomchemical analysis revealed then present of, flavoniod, tannic, saporin, terperiod cardiaglycoside which exhibited it potential to reduce blood glucose level especially present of flavorniod.

The effect of the ethanolic extract at different concentration of 100mg/kg, 200mg/kg, 300mg/kg and 400mg/kg was studied.

The test extracts showed a significant reduction of blood glucose level in which 400mg/kg demonstrated maximum blood glucose lowering potential as compared to other concentrations.

Therefore, Clerodendrum volubile possesses  ability of lowering blood sugar.

Abstract: The growing number of people living with dementia around the world draws attention to the costs of age-related deterioration, which impacts physiology, psychological and cognitive status, as well as social and emotional well-being. Nonpharmacological methods to these difficulties are recommended by current geriatric care standards, including safe techniques to managing pain and stress, improving symptom relief, and supporting independent lifestyles with the maximum possible quality of life. The goal of this article is to provide definitions for music-based interventions, music therapy applications, and clinician credentials, as well as an overview of meta-analyses on music-based interventions for dementia patients. The findings show that most research-based descriptions of music therapy protocols are lacking in depth, making it difficult for researchers to compare and repeat studies and practitioners to apply strategies. Music therapy and music-based interventions are defined in a variety of ways, and practitioners' professional training and readiness for adopting music-based clinical techniques varies. Future researchers should include detailed explanations of music therapy and music-based therapies in their protocols.

Abstract: Morgagni hernia (MH)is an unusual congenital herniation of the abdominal content through the triangular parasternal gaps of the anterior diaphragm. They are commonly asymptomatic and right sided. And being asymptomatic in most of the cases the global number of such cases are discovered incidentally via the radiological assessment (by CXR, CT scan or MRI) more than the clinical assessment especially in children’s whom anatomically their chest size is smaller than adults which make it sometimes difficult to elicit the positive signs of DH by the percussion and auscultation. Here I am presenting to you this interested case of an incidentally discovered DH (MH) in a toddler whom  presenting complaint was only PE ( A type of external chest deformity that sometimes we face in the clinic ) and not only that , The surprising thing that  the  counselling with patients mother had been done via a telephone call among the beginning if COVID-19 curfew era without examining the child clinically, After which an incidental CXR found to be with MH ,The big question here shall we do a CXR for any tiny chest deformity ( One of them PE) despite the usual reassurance we are hearing from most of the paediatricians to the  parents about such deformities or not?

Abstract: Job satisfaction, an unquantifiable metric, is defined as a positive emotional response experience when doing job. Personality traits reflect people’s characteristic patterns of thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Aim of study: the study aimed to assess the relation between job satisfaction and personality traits among staff nurses working with elderly people. Subjects and methods: A descriptive design was used to achieve the aim of the current study. The study was conducted in Beni-Suef university hospital and mental health hospital at Beni-Suef governorate. A convenient sample of all nurses 94 nurses (38 nurses in Beni-Suef university hospital and 56 nurses in mental health hospital). Two data collection tool was used to carry out the current study namely; job satisfaction questionnaire sheet, and personality traits questionnaire sheet. Results: 66% of nurses had moderate level of satisfaction. 51.1% of nurses had Low level of psychotism traits. 52.1% of nurses had high level of extraversion traits. 69.1% of nurses had high level of neuroticism traits.  Conclusion and recommendations: There is a statistically significant correlation between job satisfaction and personality traits. Abstract: Ventilator Associated Pneumonia (VAP) is the most common infectious complication among intubated patients for more than 48 hours. Aim: to examine the effectiveness of implementing Ventilator Associated Pneumonia prevention bundle among mechanically ventilated patients. Methods: A quasi experimental design (study/control) was utilized. Sample: A convenient sample of 104 patients, who admitted to the ICU, at Shebin El-Kom Menoufia University Hospital were recruited. Tools:  Acute Physiology and Chronic Health Evaluation II (APACHE II) scale, Charlson Comorbidity Index Scale and Clinical Pulmonary Infection Score (CPIS). Results: There was a statistically significant reduction in the incidence rate of Ventilator Associated Pneumonia in the study group (26.9%) compared to (69.2%) in the control group post intervention. There was a statistically significant reduction in the mean duration of mechanical ventilation and the mean length of ICU stay in the study group (8.48 ± 2.49) (11.75 ± 2.83) compared to (11.27 ± 2.17) (15.07 ± 2.22) days in the control group respectively post intervention, P<0.001. There is a relationship between co-morbidity conditions and the incidence of VAP among mechanically ventilated patients p < 0.001. Also, there is a relationship between severity of illness and the incidence of VAP among mechanically ventilated patients p <0.001. Conclusion: Implementing Ventilator Associated Pneumonia prevention bundle can lead to a statistically significant reduction in the incidence of VAP, duration of mechanical ventilation and ICU length of stay. Recommendation: Establishing a multidisciplinary team to conduct a periodic in-service education courses for critical care nurses about the importance of VAP prevention bundle.

Recently, various studies have shown the great potential of bees in increasing Penis size as well as strengthening penis muscles, many years ago such countries as Egypt used the live bee sting therapy on  penis as a way to enlarge their penis and strengthen the penis muscles, this method of therapy now has been researched here in Tanzania by an Apitherapist who is more experienced with more than three years in Apitherapy treatment, now the result shows effective of bee venom on penis enlargement and muscle strengthening.

Aim: to determine obstacles of implementing total quality management at Faculty of Nursing, Damanhour University. Methods: A descriptive research design was utilized. Setting: the study was conducted at all scientific departments at Faculty of Nursing, Damanhour University (N=9 departments). Subjects: All faculty staff members from the nine scientific departments at the Faculty of Nursing, Damanhour University were included (N=103) and who will be available during time of data collection. Tools: Tool (1): The obstacle to TQM implementation questionnaire sheet, besides, a demographic data sheet of faculty staff members. Results: there was a high statistically significant correlation between scientific research obstacle and scientific departments, and high statistically significant relation among all TQM obstacles. Conclusion: there are obstacles for TQM implementation at Faculty of Nursing, Damanhour University and ranking as: scientific research, aspects of administration, the faculty, faculty staff and community service obstacles. Recommendations: Developing strategies to overcome the obstacles of TQM implementation at Faculty of Nursing, Damanhour University.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to assess the impact of counseling on quality of life (QoL) and treatment adherence.

Research designs: A quasi experimental research design.

Setting: The study was conducted at Pediatric unit in National Cancer Institute belonging to Cairo University.

Subjects: A purposeful sample composed of thirty children out of 90 children aged from 6 to18 years had eligible criteria which were newly diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia, in the initial diagnosis period and received chemotherapy treatment at the first day of induction phases and had been accompanied by their mother and admitted to the previously mentioned setting.

Tools of data collection was a structure interviewing questionnaire to assess knowledge about Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia disease process and treatment regimen and health related quality of life (HRQL) Scale to assess quality of life of children.

Results: The study results revealed that the children and their own mother had unsatisfactory knowledge about disease process and treatment regimen and declining deficits in health-related quality of life of children.

Conclusion: It could be concluded that the children had still lack of knowledge to Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia disease process and treatment regimen that affect quality of life.

Recommendation: The study recommended for application of counseling session for all Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia children and their mothers to improve adherence to treatment which lead to promote their quality of life.

Abstract: Background: Type 2 diabetes accounts for more than 90% of patients with diabetes and leads to microvascular and macrovascular complications that cause profound physical and psychological distress upon patients and put a huge burden on health-care systems. Methods: a prospective comparative study of 90 patients with type 2 diabetes with a duration of 3- 5 years from the onset of diagnosis were categorized into 3 groups according to their diet preference, which includes, caloric control diet, Ketogenic diet, Plant-based diet.

Results: there was a statistically significant difference between studied patients' BMI with caloric control diet after 3 and 6 months while there was no statistical significance difference between BMI and ketogenic or plant-based diet after 3 and 6 months. There was a statistically significant difference between studied patients' Hba1c with caloric control and plant-based diet only after 6 months.

Conclusion: Adherence to the nutritional management plan for patients with type 2 diabetes is a key factor for better health status. A caloric control diet is the best for patients with type 2 diabetes.

Abstract: Colostrum is the first milk produced by the mammary glands of mammals in late pregnancy just prior to giving birth and continuing through the early days of breast feeding (Aisha, Batool, & Sultana, 2016). This special milk is yellow to orange in color and thick and sticky. It is very rich in proteins, carbohydrates, vitamin A and sodium chloride, but contains lower amounts of lipids, fat and potassium than normal milk .Colostrum builds important bacteria in the baby’s gut. So, colostrum put up natural immunity (baby's first immunization) against many bacteria and viruses (Legesse, Demena, Mesfin, & Haile, 2015).Early or timely initiation of breastfeeding, specifically within 1 h of birth, refers to the best practice recommendation by the World Health Organization (Sharma & Byrne, 2016).The World Health Organization (WHO) and United Nations International Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF) recommended that after delivery, optimal early breastfeeding practices should be encouraged. Unfortunately, colostrum feeding is not given to newborn for various societal myths and misconception. In a false belief of gutty , was fed as pre-lacteal feed. These manmade problems affect directly and indirectly health of newborn infants and cause malnutrition and high mortality rate in infants (Aisha et al., 2016). .The importance of colostrum is known to the limited population. There are still many people who believe that colostrum is a harmful substance which should be discarded. (Joshi et al., 2012).

Objectives:

1. To identify the knowledge towards colostrum feeding among mothers.

2. To determine the attitude and practice towards colostrum feeding among mothers.

METHODOLOGY: Researcher used quantitative descriptive cross-sectional design to conduct this study. Research setting is an overall place where the data was collected. The researcher was conducted this study in natural setting. The duration of study was 2 to 3 month. Gajumatta Community Lahore was researched site. The sample size of this study was 100 child bearing women .All childbearing women between the ages of (15-45) with the age of last child less than 5 years .Non-probability convenient sample technique was used .Previously validated an adoptive questionnaire was used for this study (F. K. BOOR, 2017).The instrument of data collection was an adapted questionnaire by researchers; the questionnaire is already tested for validity and reliability. The collected data was analyzed by interpreting data on SPSS latest 22, 23version. And  presented in graphical form.

Ethical Considerations: A voluntary written informed consent was taken from the participants prior to the data collection and it is assured to every participant the data will be confidential.

Significant of the Study:

The study is significant because, it is anticipated to identify the gaps on colostrum feeding and recommend ways of bridging on the identified gaps to improve neonatal survival. Also, this study will help to know the concept of colostrum among general population. It will also help the community to create awareness about the importance of colostrum feeding and advice mothers to practice it after every delivery.

Results: 81% females have received information about breastfeeding, 45% women got information from their relatives/friends, 25% got from health professionals, 50% received information at delivery time, only 14% received during antenatal.56% women said that breast milk is beneficial, 39% said that it protects from infection. But 55% said it should be discarded .Only 20% women have knowledge about starting time of breastfeeding. 59% mothers had practiced gutty/honey to their babies before initiating the breast feed 41% mothers had given only breast milk..53% respondents said that baby should be fed other than breast milk, 47% said that only breast milk is best for baby. 42% agreed to give gutty/honey to baby before breast feed.49% mothers disagreed to give other feed to baby after initiate the breast feeding but 34% are not .Only 44% of the lactating mothers know appropriate time of breast feeding after delivery. (30 minutes), Moreover 60% mothers said that colostrum is not important and only 34% mothers known the importance of colostrum feeding.

Conclusion: Almost 50% women were awared about the importance of colostrum feeding. But this study indicate furthar need to improve the perception, knowledge and practices of women regarding colostrum feeding. More health education programme should be arrange for mothers on the benefits of colostrum and clostrum feeding to childs. There is a great need to eliminate mythes and misconception regarding colostrum feeding.

Abstract: Due to the dramatic increases in total hip replacement (THR) rate, it is important to provide patients with nursing instructions for improving patients' functional status and reducing the risk of developing post THR surgery complications. Objective: was to evaluate the effect of nursing instructions on functional status and the occurrence of postoperative local complications among patients undergoing total hip replacement. Design: A quasi-experimental (time series) design was utilized. Setting: The study was conducted at an orthopedic department in one of the teaching hospitals of Cairo University. Sample: A convenient sample of 60 adult male and female patients undergoing total hip replacement was recruited for this study from the selected orthopedic department. Tools: Three tools were utilized to collect data pertinent to the study; 1. Demographic and medical background information form.2. Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC). 3. Post total hip replacement local complications' observational checklist. Results: Results supported the stated research hypotheses. As regards total mean scores of functional impairment status, there were statistically significant differences between the study and control groups after implementing nursing instructions at two weeks (t-test=3.573, p-value=0.001), one month (t-test=4.520, p-value=0.000), and two months of discharge (t-test=3.331, p-value=0.002), while there was no statistically significant difference between the study and control groups during the preoperative period. Concerning occurrence of post total hip replacement surgery complications, there were statistically significant differences between the study and control groups postoperatively at 2 weeks (X2=7.68, p-value= 0.010), 1 month (X2=7.92, p-value= 0.005), and 2 months of discharge (X2=10.58, p-value= 0.001). Conclusion: The provision of pre and post nursing instructions for patients undergoing THR may be of great value in improving patients' functional status and reducing the occurrence of postoperative complications. Recondition: Endorse the nursing instructions in the earlier course of disease for such patients to ensure maximum benefit

Abstract: to determine the impact of BASNEF model educational program on eye care among non-Insulin dependent diabetic patients. Setting: The study was conducted in the internal medicine department and Ophthalmic Clinics at Sohag University Hospital. Subjects: A Purposive sample of 60 adult patients with Non-insulin Dependent Diabetes mellitus from both males and females aged between (40-60) years old were included in this study. Tools of the study; Tool (1) Patient health assessment sheet Tool (2): Patient’s interview questionnaire. Tool (3): The BASNEF Model Interview questionnaire Tool (4): Patient’s Health practices observational checklists.  Results: The findings revealed that the half of both study and control group were female, married and less than half of them were illiterate. According to income, it was observed that half of study and control group did not have enough income and the mean age of study group was (53.63±5.65) and control group was (53.00±4.79). The mean of blood sugar level (AIc) in study group (pretest) is 6.23±.77, (posttest) is 5.50±.84, while in control group the mean of blood sugar level (pretest) is 5.29±.72, (posttest) is 5.52±.75 and there was statistical significant difference between study and control group pre and post BASNEF model educational program implementation. Conclusion: Based on findings of the present study, it can be concluded that the educational BASNEF model is effective in regard to eye care for diabetic patients and is recommended to use this model in educating patients for preventing ocular complications in non-insulin dependent diabetic patients.  Recommendations: Health education for newly diabetic patients about the importance of the educational BASNEF model in preventing ocular complications and encourage nurses to apply different types of nursing researches in the field of ophthalmology to validate evidence-based information in this field.

Abstract: The hiccups are involuntary, spasmodic contractions of the diaphragm and intercostal muscles that results in sudden inspiration and ends with abrupt closure of the glottis.  As shown in the table below (table 1) it is either of central or peripheral reasons and even under the peripheral reasons most of the paediatrics medical references did not mentioned the diaphragmatic eventrations per say as a leading cause of hiccups.   i report here a case of 15 months old girl with bouts of hiccups since birth and with further work up found to be having a diaphragmatic eventration after an incidental chest x-ray performance. After the eventration correction her hiccup disappeared completely so this raised an important hidden question for all cases of long-term hiccups in children’s, shall we consider the possibility of DE in the differential diagnosis in each paediatrics hiccup presentation like what is in the adult hiccup differential diagnosis.

SBAR is one of the various techniques had used in learning SA skill in clinical settings. SBAR is a communication tool to improve situational awareness, it helps staff to precisely state observations, make clear and concise questions accurately state concerns, Specify the feedback needed and Suggest solution. Critical care nurses should be able to recognize and analyze patient safety incidents using protocols, work in a team, learn from errors, and be able to identify actions and recommendations on how to prevent patient safety incidents by SBAR situational awareness technique. Nursing staff’ should recognize process and understand what is going on around them .Consequently, they can plan with greater knowledge to patient safety. Method: A quasi-experimental research design was used in this study in which two tools were used for data collection: The study was carried out using the following tools for data collection. Nurses' practices of patient safety standards checklist and nurses^, satisfaction regarding situational awareness technique in relation to patient safety practices questionnaire  Results: There was a statistically significant difference within the study group before and immediately after application of SBAR technique in relation to all aspects of patient safety standards (≤ 0.05*). There were statistically significant differences between study and Control group after application of SBAR technique in relation to most aspects of patient safety standards. Majority of study nurses get high satisfaction regarding handling of patient safety aspects using situational awareness skill (98.3%).Conclusion: In the current study, SBAR situation awareness technique was valuable to improve nurses situation awareness patient safety practice .

Abstract: Coronary Artery Bypass Graft (CABG) is the most durable and complete treatment of ischemic heart disease, It has been shown to be a highly effective intervention for the relief of angina, improving quality of life and for some patients prolonging life. While CABG surgery can be very hard on the body, the patient will be served far better by engaging in self-management program starting from the recovery period. In general, CABG self-management program covers topics related to: medication management, activity performance, nutrition, signs and symptoms of complications, and pain management. Aim of the study: the aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of implementing a self-management educational program on clinical outcomes of patients post coronary artery bypass graft surgery. Research design: Quasi-Experimental design was utilized in this study. Subjects: The study includes 40 patients who are assigned to CABG surgery and scheduled for operation. Setting: Tanta Main University Hospital, Gharbia governorate, and conducted at cardiothoracic surgery department and followed up in outpatient clinics at the same hospital. Tools: Five tools were used Tool I: Biosociodemographic and physical assessment, Tool II: Coronary artery bypass graft surgery knowledge assessment, Too III: visual numeric pain scale. Too IV: Nutritional assessment tool. Results of the present study revealed that there were highly statistically significant differences between both study and control groups post CABG self management program regarding knowledge, nutrition and functional abilities. Conclusion: It can be concluded that engagement in self management program and early exercise post CABG surgery is very effective on improving patients' clinical outcomes including pain severity, nutritional status and functional abilities. Recommendation: Patient undergoing CABG surgery should be instructed to follow self management program immediately post operation, as well as during follow up in addition to, stressing the importance of engagement in early exercise for prevention of post CABG complication.

Abstract: Assessment of lipid profile may be a good index of disease progression in HIV- infected patients following the association between CD4 count and total cholesterol, triglyceride and LDL-cholesterol. The lipid profile and atherogenic profiles of a cohort of HIV-seropositive subjects on anti-retroviral therapy (ART) and those that were ART-naïve were compared to healthy HIV-seronegative subjects. Results showed that there was a statistically significant difference in the mean age of the study subjects (p = 0.004). Systolic blood pressure in the healthy subjects was 124.4 ± 4.0mmHg, followed by 122.9 ± 7.5mmHg in the experimental subjects and 118.8 ± 8.7mmHg in the ART-naïve subjects. The difference in the systolic blood pressure of the study subjects was significantly significant (p = 0.001). The mean total cholesterol was 3.9 ± 1.1 in the healthy subjects, 3.8 ± 0.6 in the ART-naïve seropositive subjects and 3.6 ± 0.8 in the seropositive subjects on ART, while the difference in the average total cholesterol was statistically significant (p = 0.10). Among the female subjects, the AIP in healthy subjects was 0.28±0.12, -0.22±0.02 in ART-naïve seropositive subjects and 0.22±0.12 in seropositive subjects on ART. The study shows that HIV infected patients on ART were more at risk for CVD especially among seropositive male subjects.

Abstract: Self-esteem affects our trust in others, our relationships, and our work - nearly every part of our lives. Job performance of individual is a crucial to the survival of any organization. The aim this study was aimed to determine the relationship between self-esteem and job performance among psychiatric nurses at Abbassia hospital. Design of the present study was a descriptive exploratory design. Subject: A 110 of psychiatric nurses was selected from inpatient Nurses in Abbassia hospital. Setting: This study was conducted at inpatient units of Abbassia for psychiatric and addiction governmental hospital.  Tools used for data collection were: 1) demographic sheet. 2) The Rosenberg self-esteem scale (RSES). 3) The Six Dimension Scale of Nursing Performance (SDNS). Results of the present study revealed that There is a statistically significance relation between Self-Esteem and Job performance among psychiatric nurses in Abbassia for psychiatric and addiction hospital, the presented study revealed that there is also 54.5% of psychiatric nurses have low self-esteem, 8.2% of psychiatric nurses have average self-esteem and 37.3% have high self-esteem and there is A positive correlation between self-esteem and job performance. Conclusion: slightly more than two third of psychiatric nurses have low level of self-esteem; have low level of performance and there was highly significant relation between level of self-esteem and level of job performance among psychiatric nurses. Recommendations: Development of educational programs for all nurses in hospital that would help nurses to improve their self-esteem and providing teaching program about how to enhance of quality performance for psychiatric nurses.

Abstract: Nipple and uterine stimulation have been suggested as effective, inexpensive, non-medical and natural ways that induce labor and speed up its progress. Oxytocin is a hormone released from the posterior pituitary gland in a pulsed manner in response to these stimulations.   Objective: Determine the effect of nipple and uterine stimulation on the progress of labor among primiparous Women. Setting: Labor unit and delivery of obstetric and gynecologic department at Damanhour National Medical Institute affiliated to Ministry of Health in El-Behira Governorate.  Results: The total Bishop Score was highly significantly higher among the study groups (P=0.000) on the 2^nd & the 4^th hours after intervention. Mean duration of labor was also found to be highly significantly (P=0.000) shorter among the study groups, compared to the control group. In addition, oxytocics was highly significantly (P=0.000) needed by a sizeable proportion (76%) of the control group, compared to only 8% & 12% of the nipple and uterine stimulation groups respectively. Moreover, mode of delivery was found to be highly significantly (P=0.000) normal among all of the latter groups, compared to 80% of the former group, where the remaining 20% of them had CS delivery.  Conclusion: induction of labor by nipple and uterine stimulation resulted in better progress of labor. Recommendations: Maternity nurses should teach women about nipple and uterine stimulation techniques during their antenatal visits in late pregnancy to enhance their progress of labor and attain normal vaginal delivery.

Abstract: Typhoid fever remains a serious problem in developing countries including Egypt. An estimated 27 million cases of typhoid fever and 210,000 deaths occur worldwide. Aim of the study: To evaluate the effectiveness of educational program on improving mothers' performance towards children with typhoid fever at Zagazig City. Subjects and methods: Research Design: A quasi-experimental design was used. Setting: The study was conducted at Chiba Maternal and Child Health center, at Zagzig City. Subjects: Simple random sample of 103 mothers was recruited from the previous setting. Three tools were used: Tool I: A questionnaire sheet consisted of three parts: Demographic characteristics of the mothers understudy, mother’s knowledge about typhoid fever, and home environment risk factors. Tool II: Mother's practices related to food safety. Tool III: Mother’s attitudes towards children with typhoid fever scale. Results: The overall pretest knowledge score was improved from 77.7% in pre-intervention to 97.1% immediately post intervention, and reduced to 96.1%, after 3 months. The total mean scores of their practices improved from 2.84±0.12 pre intervention to 2.88±.09 immediately post intervention and reduced to 2.87±0.1 after 3 months. Additionally, the total scores of their attitudes increased from 90.30% in pre-sessions; to 100% immediately post sessions, and reduced to 99%, at 3 months of post sessions. Only 13.6% of mothers' wash hands with soap, 25.2% of them eat from street food vendors. Moreover, 11.7% were boiling milk correctly. Furthermore, this result revealed highly statistically significant correlations between knowledge, practices and attitudes among studied sample throughout the phases of intervention. Conclusion: This study results provided evidence that after implementation of the educational intervention mothers' knowledge, attitudes, and practices regarding typhoid fever improved with highly statistically significant differences. Recommendations: Periodical educational programs for mothers regarding typhoid fever about preventive measures and its management with illustrated media.

Abstract: Internet addiction creates psychological, social, school and work problems and difficulties in a person's life, especially for adolescents. Aim of the study: To assess adverse health effects of internet addiction among preparatory schools students. Design: A descriptive study design was used in this study. Setting: Study was conducted in three preparatory schools in El Mansoura City. Sample: 160 students were chosen by multi stage random sample in this study. Tools: One tool are designed,: Interview questionnaire consists of four parts designed to assess demographic characteristics, students achievement related to school performance, Internet Addictive  Behavior  Scale and its bio psychosocial effect and students' knowledge related to internet. Result: The current study shows that, 60% of the student suffer from high level intranet addiction, while 10% had low level ,Regarding to total effect of internet addition on school achievement there were 30% of students had highly negative affect, although 18.8%  of them had slightly  negative effect, Regarding  to total bio psychosocial effect 60% of students had highly negative  effect of  health. Regarding to total knowledge conclude that 55.0% of students had unsatisfactory knowledge and 45% of them had satisfactory knowledge. Conclusion The present study concluded that there were statistically significant positive relation between total knowledge,internet addiction scales  and  student socio-demographic regarding sex , age, numbers of family members , and  family income;except place of residence. and there were statistical significance positive correlation between internet addiction knowledge, effect of internet on bio psychosocial, effect of internet on school achievement. And total internet addiction score. Recommendations: Continuous educational program for students about adverse health effect of internet addiction.

Abstract: Physical therapy is a branch of rehabilitative health that use specially designed exercise and equipment's to help pediatric patients regain or improve their physical abilities and to prevent pulmonary complications for them in the pediatric intensive care units. Aim of the study was improve nurses’ performance regarding physiotherapeutic techniques for bed ridden pediatric patients. Design: A quasi-experimental was utilized in the current study. Settings: this study was conducted in PICUs  at Benha Specialized Pediatric Hospital and Benha University Hospital. Sample: A convenience sample of all available nurses in the previously mentioned settings. Tools of data collection: A structured interviewing questionnaire sheet, Physiotherapeutic techniques checklist and Physiotherapeutic Techniques Attitude Questionnaire (PTAQ). Results: The majority of the studied nurses had good knowledge, competent practice and positive attitudes regarding physiotherapeutic techniques for bedridden children post-educational program intervention compared with pre-educational program intervention. Also, there was a highly statistically significant in the total nurses' knowledge and practice scores regarding physiotherapy for bedridden children post-educational program intervention when compared with pre-educational program intervention. Conclusion: Nurses' performance was improved regarding to physiotherapeutic techniques for bedridden children. Recommendations: Provision of continuing educational programs for nurses working in PICU to improve their  knowledge and practice regarding physiotherapeutic techniques for bedridden children.

Abstract: Schizophrenia does not cause disturbances for the patients only but also their caregivers. Caring for a family member with schizophrenia is challenging for caregivers because it is extremely stressful burden.  The aim of this study was to assess caregivers' knowledge, practices, and burden with their schizophrenia patients. Design:  A descriptive research design was utilized in  this  study. Subjects: A convenient sample of families’ caregivers of schizophrenic patients (60) (All caregivers are available) Setting: Data were collected from the psychiatric out-patient clinic department at Demera psychiatric hospital. Data collection tools: Four tools were used for data collection Tool 1: Bio-demographic data sheet, which included (a) Demographic data related to caregiver, (b) Demographic data of patient, (c) Clinical data related to the patient, Tool 2: Assess caregivers’ knowledge, Tool 3: Assess caregivers’ practice, and Tool 4: Caregiver burden scale Results: More than half of the studied caregivers aged between 40 – 59 years with mean 49.9 ± 13.2 years, near to three quarters of them was female and lives n the urban area. Half of the studied caregivers had poor knowledge and practices regarding schizophrenic disease and more than two third of them had always burden distress levels. Conclusion: Caregivers knowledge, and practices need to improve especially for newly diagnosed patient to decrease burden of patient disease on their family. Recommendation: provide psycho-educational programs in psychiatric hospitals and out-patient clinics

Abstract: This study aimed to evaluate the effect of instructional guidelines on nurses' performance regarding care of children suffering from burn injuries. Study design: A quasi- experimental design was utilized to conduct this study. Study setting: A purposive study was conducted at burn center affiliated to Ain Shams University Hospitals and Embaba Hospital. Sample: The subjects of this study were composed of (39) nurses were worked in the previously mentioned study settings. Tools: (1): Structured questionnaire sheet. (2): Observational checklists. (3) Design an instructional guidelines regarding care of children suffering from burn injuries. Results: More than three quarters of the studied sample (87.17%) were females and 51.3% had diploma nurses .More than one third of them (35.9%) had 5-10 years of experience. There were statistically significant difference between nurses' knowledge related to burn before and after instructional guidelines and there were statistically significant difference between nurses' practice related to care of burn before and after instructional guidelines. There was positive correlation between total level of knowledge of the studied sample and their total level of practice regarding care of burn before and after instructional guidelines. Conclusion: Instructional guidelines had a positive effect on nurses' knowledge and practice regarding care of children suffering from burn injuries.  There was significant improvement in the level of knowledge and practice among the studied nurses before and after instructional guidelines. Recommendations:  Continuous educational program and training should be offered to the nurses on updating knowledge and practice to raise their standard of care for pediatric patient with burn injuries. In service training program for newly recruited nurses to update their knowledge and improve their practice in management of pediatric patient with burn injuries.

Abstract: Children face a lot of dangerous things from the environment surrounding them which might seriously affect their whole life including exposure to different types of child abuse either physical, sexual or emotional. Aim of this study was to physical ,emotional and sexual child abuse among school-age children within family members in Qualubia Governorate. Research design: A descriptive survey design was utilized to achieve the aim of the study. Setting: This study was conducted at Primary Schools in Qaluibia Governorate, which are affiliated to Ministry of Education. The study conducted at 25% from the above mentioned administration (Benha, Tokh, and Kafer Shoker). 25% of primary schools were randomly selected Sample: Multistage random sample of 400 students were selected from primary schools in Qaluibia Governorate. Tools: Two tools were utilized in this study. First tool was divided into two parts; Part (1): Socio-demographic characteristics of children and Part (2):Socio-demographic characteristics of family members. Second tool: Resources and Aspects of Children Abuse Scale.  Results. More than half of the studied children were females, and the mean age of studied children was 10.4±2.1 years. There was a highly statistically significant correlation between the age and different types of child abuse. Conclusion: Physical, emotional and sexual child abuse among studied children was high regarding all forms of abuse within the family from their parents. Recommendations: Increase family awareness about child abuse and its consequences on child health through media, awareness campaign, and conducting awareness program for children to protect themselves against all types of abuse.

Abstract: Mothers of children with thalassemia are often confronted with stressful life associated with the illness of the child as well as other related stressors. Consequently, these mothers’ quality of life is impacted. Previous researches have shown that perceived social support is a part of coping strategies that can help mothers to cope with their stressful life and increase their health status. The purpose of this study was to explore the relationship between quality of life and social support among mothers of children with thalassemia. Design: A descriptive co relational design was utilized. Setting:  The study was conducted at pediatric department in University units at the Menoufia University Hospital at Shebin El-kom city, Menoufia Governorate, Egypt. Sample:  A Convenient sample of 87 mothers of children with thalassemia who met inclusion and exclusion criteria were selected: Three instruments were used to collect data: Structured Interview Questionnaire to assess socio demographic characteristics of the studied subjects, a structured interview questionnaire, Quality of life Scale and Perceived social support scale. Results: The findings of this study revealed that less than half of studied mothers (42.4) have average and bad quality of life and more than one third of mothers (37.60%) have moderate social support. There was a positive correlation between total quality of life and total social support among the studied mothers. The study concluded that there was a positive correlation between total quality of life and total social support among the studied mothers. It was recommended that, an educational program should be given for the mothers of children with thalassemia to maintain their psychological and physical health, as well as improve their quality of life as a whole.

Abstract: The problem based learning (PBL) can help students as a teacher create a high-performing classroom in. It allows students to focus on central ideas and issues in the curriculum, create engaging and challenging activities in the classroom and support self-directed learning). Aim of the study was to assess the perception of the secondary technical nursing students regarding problem-based learning and traditional methods of learning. Research design: A descriptive study was used. Settings: This study was carried out in El-Nile and Benha secondary technical nursing schools, affiliated to the Health Insurance Organization, in Qalyoubiah Branch. Subjects: A convenient sample included (60) students in third grades at the previously mentioned settings. Tools of data collection: 1) A pre designed questionnaire consisted of two parts: First part to assess socio- demographic characteristics of the student such as; age, father educational level...etc. Second part Likert-type rating scale concerned with students perception regarding using problem-based learning and traditional methods of learning. Results: The main results showed that, the mean age of the studied students were 17.61±1.41 years, all students were females. As regarded of studied students total perception, approximately three quarters were agreeing regarding the problem based learning develops their  abilities on scientific thinking more than traditional learning. Conclusion: As regarded of the perception of studied students, the current study concluded that the majority of students have high  total perception regarding PBL than traditional method in learning. In addition, there are  highly statistical significant differences was observed as regarding better use of problem based learning than the traditional learning method as school books & lectures. Recommendations: Further researches should be applied about PBL in different academic setting in large sample size to be generalized and integration PBL as a method of teaching to students receiving pediatric course.

Abstract: Burn is bodily injury resulting from exposure to heat, electricity, or some radiations, marked by varying degrees of skin destruction and hyper anemia often with the formation of watery blisters Aim of study: the study aimed to evaluate the effect of educational nursing program on nurses' performance regarding burn injury. Subjects and methods: A quasi experimental design. The study was conducted at two hospitals (Beni-Suef general hospital, Minia general hospital and, Minia university hospital) first and second hospital affiliated to ministry of health, the third one affiliated to ministry of higher education. Forty nurses where included in the current study sample. Three tools of data collection were used to carry out this study namely, tool 1): Structured Self-Administered Questionnaire that include two parts; part 1): demographic characteristics, and part 2): nurse's knowledge, Tool П-:  Nurses’ observational checklists procedure, and Tool IП:  Structured nurse's attitude scales. Results: Most of nurses had unsatisfactory knowledge regarding burn in the pre intervention phase. While majority of them had satisfactory knowledge regarding burn in the posttest (1&2). All of nurses had unsatisfactory practice regarding burn in the pre intervention phase. While majority of them had satisfactory practice regarding burn in immediate, posttest (1) & posttest (2). Conclusion and Recommendations: All of nurses had negative attitude regarding burn in the pre intervention phase. While, majority of them had positive attitude regarding burn in immediate, posttest (1) & posttest (2) A positive correlation between nurses’ total knowledge, practice and attitude scores.  Educational nursing program regarding burn injury have a positive effect on nurses' performance, providing continuous education and update for nurses regarding evidence based nursing practices about burn patients, giving current study booklet to burn units in the study settings to use as a guide for nurses during their care of patients as it was valid, applicable and, reliable.

Abstract: Today’s complex healthcare organizations are facing many challenges. These challenges affect nurses’ responsibilities and accountabilities without adding power or authority. Healthcare managers and leaders recognize that quality care is best delivered by creating an attractive work environment, implementing nursing governance and shared leadership. Aim: To investigate relationship between nursing governance and shared leadership style as perceived by nurses. Study design: A descriptive correlational research design was used to conduct this study. Setting: The study was conducted at Alexandria Main University Hospital. Subjects: All nurses who were available at Alexandria Main University Hospital (N = 724) were included in the study and classified as follows: from medical care units (n = 221), from surgical care units (n = 307) and from intensive care units (n= 196). Tools: Two tools were used in this study. Tool I was Index of Professional Nursing Governance (IPNG) survey and tool II was Shared Leadership survey. Method: Self- administered questionnaires were utilized by the researcher to collect the required data. Results: The vast majority of nursing profession related decisions was taken primarily by nursing management and leaders without or only little input from nurses. The highest mean percentage score of the studied nurses' governance was related to ability to set goals and conflict resolution. On the other hand, the highest mean percentage score of the studied nurses' shared leadership style was related to culture. Conclusion: There was a statistically significant difference with positive low correlation between overall nursing governance and overall shared leadership style. Recommendations: Implement strategies that promote nursing governance through providing nurses with equal opportunities for education and training on nursing governance practices. Also, enhance skills of first line nurse managers and nurses such as communication, goal setting, teamwork, resolution of conflict and decision making processes.

Abstract: The aim of this study was to determine the levels of anxiety and depression in migraine patients, as well as the relationships between other variables, and to compare them to a control group.

Methods: The research included 20 migraine patients and 20 control patients from Greece in a cross-sectional study. The International Headache Society guidelines were used to make the migraine diagnosis. Patients were asked to fill out a questionnaire that included sociodemographic information, migraine intensity (frequency and visual analogue scale score), and depression and anxiety scales.

Results: The Beck Depression Inventory (BDI) levels were positively associated with anxiety scores, but not with migraine clinical characteristics, according to correlation studies. Anxiety levels, on the other hand, were linked to the number of days with migraine pain and the number of migraine attacks per month. The VAS ratings, on the other hand, were not linked to anxiety levels. The migraine group had higher BDI score, and the control group had higher STAI score.

Conclusions: The migraine group scored higher on depression and anxiety than the control group. The findings back up the theory that anxiety and depression are linked to migraines.

Abstract: Breast cancer is the most frequent neoplasm in women and it has a negative impact on self-concept and the emotional well-being of the patients who suffer from it. Aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of psycho-educational intervention on  psychological  status among breast cancer patients. Design: A quazi - experimental research design two group (study and control group pre/ posttest) was  used to achieve the purpose of this study. Setting: The study was conducted at new cancer institute at Menoufia University . Subject:A purposive sample consisted of 50 patients from the above mention setting who fulfilling the inclusion criteria of the study .Tools: Data were collected using three tools: Social Characteristics Structured interview questionnaire ,Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale scale. Results: The present study revealed  that there was a highly statistically significant difference between study and control group in the level  of both of anxiety, depression and self-esteem  post psycho-educational intervention. It was concluded that the psycho-educational intervention has a positive effect on reducing anxiety ,depression level and enhancing  self-esteem among breast cancer patients. Recommendation: Guidance and counseling unit should be part of the treatment   system so that patients can come there to discuss issues affecting them. Screening for high-risk patients should be done and referral when necessary

Abstract: Thalassemia is a red blood cell (RBC) hereditary autosomal recessive disorder which includes the lack of, or defect in genes accountable for development of hemoglobin (Haque, A. T. M. E et al., 2015). Depending upon the globin chain involvement, thalassemia is divided into Alpha-thalassemia and Beta thalassemia. Beta- thalassemia is further classified as beta-thalassemia major, intermediate and minor, on the basis of clinical severity and inheritance pattern.  (Stephens, A. D.et al., 2012)  These patients even have substantial “hepatosplenomegaly due to hemolysis and extra medullary hematopoiesis”.  At this stage, urgent medical intervention is crucial for prevention of a number of complications.  (Haque et al.,2015) Prenatal diagnosis and carrier detection is available in Pakistan for over a decade, but it’s use remains limited due to lack of public awareness and the costs involved. It is reported that more than half of the families of the registered thalassemic patients did not request for prenatal diagnosis.  (Naseem S, Ahmed S at el.,2008) Factors identified for this low utilization of services were lack of awareness about thalassemia, poor access to treatment, delay in seeking consultation and high cost of treatment.

Objectives: To determine the knowledge regarding premarital thalassemia screening among the people of Gajjumatta community Lahore, Pakistan.

Methodology: Quantitative descriptive cross sectional design was applied to access the contributing factors of premarital thalassemia screening. A cross-sectional research is the study that collects information about people at specific time of period (Lisa B 2014).This study was conducted at   Gajjumatta community Lahore in natural setting. Data was collected by using demographic information and questionnaire related to premarital screening and knowledge regarding thalassemia. Data was collected from 103 people ranging from ages 18 years to 30 years. The data was analyzed by using Statistical Package of Social Science (SPSS) for Windows version 18.0 

Considerations: The study was conducted after obtaining a permission letter from the Institution Review Board (IRB) and a permission letter from the society head along with an informed consent from the study participants.

Results: About 65% are unaware about the (genetic) nature of Thalassemia and 34% have the knowledge regarding the hereditary nature of Thalassemia. This concludes that people are not aware of the genetic nature of this disease. About 70% people do not have adequate information regarding Thalassemia and the factors that lead to the disease. Knowledge about the transmission of Thalassemia by blood was inadequate that was about 75%. Majority of participants have no knowledge about the role of consanguineous marriage that was almost 72%. About 84% people have no knowledge of signs and symptoms of this disease and 66% people do not know about the diagnostic criteria of the disease.

Conclusions: The findings in the current study offer a comprehensive understanding of people of knowledge regarding premarital thalassemia screening. This provides valuable evidence to assess that the Gajjumata community has insufficient knowledge regarding premarital Thalassemia screening. Screening should be performed on every individual before marriage to reduce the chances of Thalassemia. The control and prevention program for Thalassemia should be established through education counseling, screening and antenatal diagnosis.
