Abstract:Neonatal jaundice is the most common health hazard of neonates which causes serious complications. Clinical pathway is interdisciplinary care maps manage client's arrangement of care through achievement of specific clinical outcome. The use of clinical pathways is requires safe practice from the nurses to achieve optimal health outcomes. Aim: The aim of this study was to assess the effect of using clinical pathway on outcomes of neonates with jaundice or suspected hyperbilirubinemia. Settings: This study was conducted at Neonatal Intensive Care Units in El-Menoufia University Hospital and Shebin El-kom Teaching Hospital- Shebin El-kom city- El- Menoufia Governorate, Egypt. Design: A quasi experimental research design was utilized. Sample: two types of sample were used; Patient’s sample and nurse’s sample. Sixty neonates with jaundice or suspected hyper-bilirubinemia were selected from previously mention setting and divided into two equal groups and all nurses (30 nurses) working in neonatal intensive care units in El-Menoufia University Hospital and Shebin El-kom Teaching Hospital were included in the sample. Tools: 1) Neonatal  Medical Records 2) Observation checklist about neonatal general health status pre and post implementation of clinical pathway 3) Observational checklist for nurse's safety practice to prevent complication of phototherapy and exchange transfusion Results: The study revealed that there was  significant improvement in clinical outcomes of neonates after implementation of a clinical pathway. Neonates in the study group had short duration of hospital stay than those in control group. Conclusion: Clinical pathway was effective in improving the clinical outcome of neonates with jaundice or suspected hyperbilirubinemia and contributed to duration reduction of neonatal hospitalization. Recommendation: Clinical pathway should be applied for neonates with Jaundice or suspected hyperbilirubinemia and provision of in-service training program for nurses about clinical pathway.                            

Abstract:The high number and growing prevalence of women who enter pregnancy overweight or obese are one of the most growing public health concern in this situation. The World Health Organization (WHO) reports obesity as an epidemic issue, with a higher prevalence in women than men. Thus, many pregnant women are seen with high body mass index (BMI). Obesity during pregnancy is considered a high-risk state because it is associated with many medical complications to mother and growing baby inside mother womb. Also, obese women have a higher incidence of infertility as compared with normal-weight women. Once they conceive, they have the higher rate of early miscarriage and congenital abnormalities. Misperception of body weight among women can have negative consequences, including body dissatisfaction leading to dieting, which is a strong risk factor for eating disorder. Women were normally more concerned about their body shape and weight than their counterpart men. Literature searches were conducted in three databases that cover a broad spectrum of disciplines: PubMed, Web of Science, and Elsevier Science with the date of the last search in February 2018. Given that my aim was to provide a critical summary of existing published work on the misperception of body weight and its associated factor in reproductive-age women.

Abstract:Sleeping is a basic and vital human need. It affects different dimensions of individuals' quality of life and health. There are several factors affecting sleeping pattern as; some chronic disease e.g. chronic heart failure which might be associated with disturbances of sleeping pattern. So, it is essential to identify these factors in order to specify the avoidable ones and make a corrective nursing action to control over them with a final aim of improving patient's quality of life. Accordingly, this study is aiming to identify factors affecting sleeping pattern with reflection on quality of life among patients with chronic heart failure. A descriptive correlational research design was adopted. A purposeful sample including 59 patients was recruited from one of the Teaching Hospitals in Cairo according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Three tools were used: First: Patient's demographic data assessment tool. Second: Sleeping pattern and factors affecting it assessment tool, and third: Patient's quality of life assessment tool.
Results: proved that, slightly more than one tenth of the studied sample had very good sleeping pattern, while approximately one third had fairly good sleeping pattern, and the rest had either fairly bad or very bad sleeping pattern. The most important factors that affect sleeping pattern and could be avoided are types of medication and their schedule, as well as environmental factors. However, the most dominant non-avoidable factors that affect sleeping pattern were breathing related complaints. Finally, a positive highly statistically significant relation was proved between total quality of sleeping pattern and total quality of life among patients. This study concluded that, there are non-avoidable and avoidable factors which affected negatively on the patient's sleeping pattern. The avoidable factors could be properly managed to improve the patients' sleeping pattern and improve their quality of life. Based on the findings of this study, it is recommended to deliver awareness sessions for the nurses regarding the importance of assessing factors affecting sleeping pattern negatively in order to develop corrective actions aiming to support patients and their families.  It is also recommended to repeat the study on a wider scale in order to make generalization of the findings.

Abstract:Caring for older adults has become ever more difficult due to numerous factors. It is essential to understand the 4th-year student nurses’ perspective when caring for geriatric patients. This paper aims to explore 4th-year student nurses' experiences with elderly patients in the Geriatric Ward to help distinguish teaching, learning, and support needs. There were 12 participants selected through purposive sampling who agreed to participate in the study. The participants were graduating student nurses at one of the Colleges of Health Sciences in Ajman, United Arab Emirates. A qualitative descriptive phenomenological approach was adopted, and data was collected using a semi-structured interview, observation, and document analysis. The students described the learnings they have had on a personal level during their encounters in the clinical area. This permitted the researcher to gain an in-depth knowledge of the students lived experience in caring for geriatric patients. Thematic analysis was used to interpret and analyze the data, while also using the seven steps used in Colaizzi's approach.

Abstract:the phytochemical extraction and medicinal potential of both the aqueous and chloroform crude extracts of Tephrosia platycarpa were carried out using standard procedures. The following phytochemicals are present: alkaloids, glycosides, carbohydrates, proteins, phytosterols, tannins, phenols, flavonoids, coumarines, saponins, quinone, cardiac glycosides, terpenoids, phlobatannins, steroids, cholesterol, triterpenoids, and sugar. On the medicinal potential, the aqueous extract was bactericidal against Staphylococcus aureus and Salmonella typhi at the Minimum Bactericidal Concentrations (MBC) of 50mg/ml each.  While the chloroform extract was bactericidal against Staphylococcus aureus, Salmonella typhi, and Escherichia coli at MBCs of 25mg/ml, 50mg/ml and 50mg/ml respectively. From the result of the findings, the plant, Tephrosia platycarpa has medicinal potential.

Abstract:Meningioma is one of the most common tumors of the central nervous system in adulthood, constituting 20–30% of all intracranial primary neoplasm. [1, 2]. Meningiomas occur most commonly in the fifth decade of life in adults. Paediatric meningiomas are relatively uncommon and rare. They compose no more than 3% of all childhood primary intracranial tumors [2–5]. Previous literatures reported that paediatric meningiomas have different clinical features and prognosis compared with those of adults [6]. The information about the entity of paediatric meningiomas is poor, only several studies have attempted to analyze the characteristics of childhood meningiomas. Although they are uncommon in infancy and childhood, some features of childhood intracranial meningiomas, such as male predominance or lower frequency of dural infiltration have been well described in the literature [8, 10,23]. Absence of dural attachment is more common in children than in adult patients. Childhood meningiomas have a low recurrence rate. They are frequently associated with neurofi- bromatosis, which is the most important factor influencing outcome. Many controversies exist and a definitive description of childhood meningiomas still requires much more broader experience.
Objective: To retrospectively analyze and review the epidemiological profile, clinical features and characteristics, radiological findings, type of excision, histopathological findings, treatment consideration, and overall management profile and prognosis of paediatric meningiomas. The findings were compared with those of other studies in children and in adults.
Materials and Methods: Review of the literature with MEDLINE / PUB-MED / EMBASE search was done to study and analyze the published data about paediatric meningiomas for the last 25 years.
Nineteen consecutive cases of meningioma patients, who were admitted, operated and followed up at our institution between the years 2006 and 2013, were included in this study. This article reviewed 19 cases of surgically treated intracranial and intraspinal meningiomas in children under 18 years of age, who were followed up during a period of 7 years.
Additionally, five rare cases of paediatric meningioma were presented with illustration of specific uncommon findings: One case in the anterior cerebral fossa, two cases of the pineal region, one case of cerebro-spinal infiltration and a case of lepto-meningeal dissemination.
Results: The mean age of patients at presentation to our hospital was 12.81 years (range from nine months – 18 years, 11 boys and 8 girls). The male to female ratio was 1.38:1. The median preoperative duration of symptoms was 1.2 years. An increased incidence was seen in patients with neurofibromatosis. Intraventricular and skull base locations were common. Total tumor excision was achieved in all cases.
Seven patients were in the first decade of life and 12 patients were in the second decade. The most common symptoms were related to increase of intracranial pressure (ICP) such as headache (33. 3%) and epilepsy (25%), followed by cranial nerve dysfunction: distortion of commissures, vision disorder and disturbance of sensorium level up to unconsciousness. In spinal tumors, muscular weakness with paraparesis / monoparesis with or without sensitive dysfunstion were the main symptoms. The size of lesions was ranged 25–65 mm (mean 42.3 mm). Of these 19 patients, 11 were diagnosed as WHO class I meningiomas, 5 were WHO class II, and 3 manifested WHO class III. Two of 19 patients (10.5%) met the criteria, that theyvhad tumor recurrence within follow-up of seven years.
The specific findings of the five additional cases were illustrated and discussed in details.
Conclusion: Paediatric meningiomas usually have larger size, higher pathologic grade, and unusual location. The influential factors for recurrence include lesion location, histological features and extent of removal. A higher incidence of atypical and aggressive meningiomas is seen in children. Children with complete resection and a typical benign histology have a good prognosis. Complete tumor resection is the best choice to treat the symptoms, improve the prognosis and prevent recurrence.

Abstract:Leprosy is associated with major psychosocial problems leading to seclusion of the affected persons. Nonetheless, the intervention programs aimed at integration of these patients still need more research.
Aim: To examine the effectiveness of a psychiatric nursing program for psychosocial adjustment in improving coping among patients with leprosy, and consequently ameliorating their self-concept.
Subjects and methods: The study was carried out at the leprosy colony in El-Khanka, Qalyoubia governorate using a quasi-experimental design with pre-post assessment on 150 leprotic patients. Data were collected using an interview form with Tennessee self-concept scale, and a coping strategy scale. The intervention consisted of a psychiatric nursing program for psychosocial adjustment of patients with leprosy developed and implemented by the researchers in small groups over 16 sessions. The effectiveness of the program was evaluated after its completion using the same data collection form and procedure.
Results: The patients’ median age was 41.0 years, with 52.0% males. The duration of illness ranged between 1 and 50 years, with median length of stay 5.5 years. The patients had average self-concept scores and low coping before the intervention, and both showed statistically significant improvements (p<0.001) after training. Meanwhile, the score of avoidance/ withdrawal coping strategy which was high before program statistically significantly decreased (p=0.02). The study intervention was a statistically significant independent positive predictor of all types of coping strategies, except avoidance/withdrawal strategy where it was a negative predictor. Moreover, it was the statistically significant independent positive predictor of self-concept in addition to in addition to all types of coping strategies, except avoidance/withdrawal.
Conclusion and recommendations: A psychiatric nursing program is effective in improving the coping of leprosy patients, with consequent improvement of their self-concept. It is recommended that the program be implemented on a larger scale, with more emphasis on those with longer duration of the illness.

Abstract:A rapid gender analysis using qualitative methods of data collection was undertaken in Siaya County, rural Western Kenya to understand the local context and assess gender equality in reproductive, maternal, neonatal and child health. Study findings indicate that gender roles and responsibilities for both men and women are clearly defined among the rural Luo community of Siaya County. Women are expected to “take care” of the home and are thus viewed as “home managers”. They are also expected to undertake productive work such as farming and income generation to support the family. On top of these are the reproductive roles which the study revealed are the most valued roles for women in the community since they guarantee continuity of the family, lineages and clans. These include giving birth, taking care of the new born, upbringing of the children and providing health care to the children. Men’s role among the Luo are mainly found outside the home and include providing food and shelter to the family and assuming security, leadership and decision-making responsibilities at home and in the community. Findings showed that despite modernization with its attendant changes in knowledge, attitude and practices in various spheres, women’s roles are still confined at home, undervalued and having little authority as opposed to those of men which accord them control, power and authority in decision-making over women and resources. Furthermore, the study found out that the triple role of women constitutes role overload with far-reaching health repercussions for women and children. Women take up close to 70% (16/24 hours) of their full day time performing domestic, reproductive and community roles a situation that was found to constrain their time for accessing and utilizing maternal and child health services available in health facilities. Most women also expressed that they are often left with no time to maintain proper dietary preparation and consumption practices during their pregnancy and also for the wellbeing of their infants and younger children. Women’s unequal social status limits their ability to space their children and negotiate for safe sex with their husbands or intimate partners. This increases their vulnerability to violence and cases of unwanted pregnancies. Harmful gender norms and attitudes deriving from pervasive gender inequality underscore the problem. Compounding the situation is the finding that a majority of women do not have control over productive resources and have to rely on the support of the men to enable them to pay for healthcare services. This dependency means that access and utilization of health services may be delayed for the mother and child should the man fail to pay for medical costs to pave way for a clinical visit in good time. Finally, although women and men concurred that they have equal rights to health services, the study found out that men tend to shy away from some services such as fortified meals and other nutritional supplements in cases of malnutrition mainly because of stigmatization and gender norms reasons. The study recommends sensitization and awareness creation on health rights for both men and women through facility-based and community level forums. Building the capacity of men and incorporating them as change agents in health interventions would also enable them to appreciate their important role in supporting women to access and utilize reproductive, maternal, neonatal and child health services.

Abstract:Asthma is a chronic illness affecting children and adolescents, the purpose of asthma management focuses on treating the symptoms, asthma control and decrease hospital admission. So, healthcare professionals should dedicate more their effort to educate the asthmatic adolescents about treatment plan.
Aim: this study was aimed to evaluate the effect of implementing bronchial asthma care bundle on adolescents' adherence, asthma control and hospital readmission.
Research design: A quasi experimental research design using the two groups (study and control).
Setting: This study was carried out in the in-patient ward at Mansoura Government Hospital for Chest diseases, Egypt. 
Sample: Composed of 126 adolescents with asthma who were admitted to the previous setting, after fulfilling inclusion criteria. They were divided randomly to 2 identical groups, study and control.
Tools: 4 tools were used. 1, structured interview questionnaire sheet. 2, Performance observation checklists. 3, Asthma Morisky Medication Adherence Scale. 4, Asthma Control Test.
Results: the present study revealed that, there were  high statistically significant differences between study and control  groups (p <0.001) after intervention regarding studied adolescent's knowledge and practice. Also, near half of them (49.2%&58.7%) in study  group had high adherence compared with less than one quarter  (20.6%& 17.5%)  of adolescents  in control group, after intervention post 30 and 60 days. In addition, less than two third of them (52.4% &63.5%)   in study group had well asthma control compared to more than one quarter of adolescents (27.0%& 30.2%) in control group after 30 and 60 days. Also, more than two third (69.8%& 65.1%)  of adolescents in study group had not hospital readmission after 30 and 60 days after intervention  compared to around one quarter ( 22.2% & 28.6%)  of adolescents in control group. There high statistical significant differences between both groups after intervention.
Conclusions: the study concluded that, bronchial asthma care bundle affected positively on adolescent's knowledge, practice, adolescent's adherence, asthma control and hospital readmission.
Recommendation: it was suggested further implementation of bronchial asthma care bundle intervention in other emergency departments and  hospitals.

Abstract:Today’s huge hospital-based systems allow to nurses are always on the go moving from one room to another, caring for patients, coordinating care plans and ensuring patients have the resources they need to get and stay healthy. Gratefully, technology in nursing profession goals to benefit these greatly mobile healthcare professionals focuses on patients more efficiently. Smart-phones, tablets and wearables are mobile nurse technology; they can transform how hospital-based nurses deliver bedside care. By smart-phones nurses contact with health information and to communicate with other team, and they can use these mobile solutions from any setting, at any time, to provide directly fast care. Communication and decision-making among health care team included nurses are the main dilemma in the clinical setting and frequently cause medical errors, for many patients, but they can be preventable by using smart-phones as a calculator for drug dose. The use of Smartphone by nurses to write the patient problem recognized unreliable themes that are associated with practical use, and future use. Mobile has a good effect on patients check, changing nursing shifts, and social agendas. Nurses can use mobile in educating patients/family at the point of care, which need to a suitable screen size, especially for elder people, and can print out the available needed material.

Abstract:The concept of healthcare management involves the roles, functions, competencies as well as the responsibilities of a healthcare manager. These facets are the focus of this study considering that healthcare is a diverse field with growing opportunities.

Abstract:Pain management is an important concern for a child with cancer or other pain-causing diseases. Distraction is one of the non-pharmacological techniques of pain management strategies. Aim of this study was to determine the effect of distraction technique on pain control in children receiving chemo-radiotherapy. A quasi-experimental research design was used to conduct the present study. Subjects and method: This study was conducted on60pediatricpatientspresented at Oncology Institute Affiliated to the Ministry of Health and Pediatric Hematology and Oncology Department of Tanta University Hospital. Data were collected by using an interview and pain assessment sheets. Results: This study revealed that the majority of children, who had severe pain associated with chemo-radiotherapy, had immediate improvement after the implementation of distraction technique with the majority had no pain and 15% had mild pain. Conclusion: Distraction is a non-pharmacological intervention aimed to reduce procedural pain or control pain in cancer children. Age-specific non-pharmacological interventions used to manage the pain are most effective when adapted to the developmental level of the child. Recommendations: In service training programs should be held with nurses working in the radiation and oncology department which include lesson about cancer and side effects of cancer, pain.

Abstract: Maternal nutrition knowledge and practices are essential in child’s growth and development. Without adequate nutritional knowledge and optimal feeding practices, poor nutritional status among children can arise even in households with adequate income and food, good sanitation and health services.
The aim of this study was to assess mother’s knowledge and practice about children's physical growth after home based intervention. Design: Quasi-experimental design (pre-post) test was utilized.
Settings:- This study was conducted at Maternal and Child Health Centers at Tanta city, Gharbiya Governorate, Egypt. Sample: A convenience sample of 100 children and their mothers.
Tools: 1) A structured interviewing questionnaire including; the socio-demographic data of children's and their parent's, Nutrition knowledge and practice 2) Physiological measurements of children.
Results: 48% of mothers had secondary education, and most of them 70% were housewife, more than half of children between 4-5 years (55%). It was revealed that highly significant improvement (p<0.0002) in the mothers’ nutritional knowledge after early home based intervention. There was high significant difference between pre and post 2 intervention nutritional practice regarding Body Mass Index of children.
Conclusion: The home based intervention was effective in improving nutritional knowledge and practices in post intervention than pre intervention.
Recommendation: Educate parents to be role models for their children in relation to healthy eating patterns & participating in physical activities. Providing nutritional programs for mothers about good nutrition, and method of cook a healthy food to preschool children. Integrate nutritional courses to the children in the MHC centers to learning good food habits and practices.

Abstract:Background: Physical growth in children is a key element in evaluating their health status. Early home based intervention is a system of coordinated services that assure that families who have at-risk children in this age range receive resources and supports that assist them in maximizing their child's physical, cognitive, and emotional development and respecting the diversity of families and communities. The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of early home based intervention on children's physical growth from two to five years. Design: Quasi-experimental design (pre-post) test was utilized. Settings:-This study was conducted at Maternal and Child Health Centers at Tanta city, Gharbiya Governorate, Egypt. Sample: A convenience sample of 100 children and their mothers. Tools:  1) A structured interviewing questionnaire including; the socio-demographic data of children's and their parent's. 2) Physiological measurements to assess weight, height, head, and chest, mid arm circumference. 3) 24 hours dietary recall. Results: More than half of children between 4-5 years (55%). Female were more than males (52%, and 48%). There was significant differences between pre and post 2 intervention regarding body mass index. The effect of early home based intervention on physiological measurements among total studied children showed significant improvements of all physiological measurements (P< 0.05 for each) except in head and arm circumference (p> 0.05 for each). Conclusion: Home based intervention had positively effect on physical growth of children. Recommendation: Implement mother class sessions for mothers attending Maternal Child Centers on normal growth and development of their children and how to early detect any deviation from normal ranges.

Abstract:Women with disability are those women with impairment which can be either physical, sensory, cognitive or mental which can affect everyday life activities. Pregnant women with disability, for instance, experience challenges during the course of pregnancy. Their voices of being a mother are heard on different perspective. This study aimed to explore the maternity care experiences of women with disability. The objective of the study was to explore the women with disability lived experiences on pregnancy, their challenges and the possible barriers and facilitator where the women faced during pregnancy. A qualitative phenomenological study was used to conduct this study by using semi-structured, in-depth individual interviews, observation and recorded voices were transcribed into codes and key themes.  A guide questions for interview was designed for the purpose of this research. 16 pregnant women with disability were selected as the participants of the study through purposive sampling technique. With the two-part interview, the women with disability interview were conducted during the last trimester to delivery and followed by verification and interpreting the texts and recorded voices on the personal interview. Findings revealed that women with disability encountered positive and negative maternity care experiences.

Abstract:Cancer is a chronic disease affecting all dimensions of the human life. Prostate cancer is one of the most prominent health problems among older men who have not received sufficient attention from scientific research in Egypt. Improving quality of life and body image considered a basic concern for patients with prostate cancer (PCa). Aim of the study: was to evaluate the effectiveness of psycho-educational program on quality of life and body image of prostatic cancer patients. Research design: -. Quasi experimental design (one group pre/posttest) was used to achieve the goal of the study. Setting: - The study was carried out at Shebin El-kom teaching & University Hospital Oncology department in Menoufia University. Sample: - A convenient sample compromised 60 patients with prostate cancer were selected in the chosen setting. Tools: - three tools were utilized for data collection:  (1): Structured interviewing questionnaire. (2): Body image scale (3): Quality of Life scale (QOLS). The collected data were analyzed using SPSS (Statistical Package for Social Sciences) version20. Student's t-test, one a way ANOVA (F-test) and paired T-test were used for parametric data. Mann-Whitney was used for non-parametric data. Pearson's Correlation analysis was used to show strength and direction of association between two quantitative variables. P value <0.05 is considered significant. Results: There were   statistically significant differences between pre and post psycho educational program regarding total score of body image and quality of life.  Conclusion: Implementation of psycho educational program with prostatic cancer patients had a constructive effect on   quality of life and body image of prostatic cancer patients. Recommendation: - Future research should focus on enhancing group interventions to improve disease-specific Quality of Life (QOL), particularly sexual and urinary functioning.

Abstract:Human nature involves a set of universal basic needs. Individual differences lead to the uniqueness of the individual's personality due to varying amounts of each need. In the critical care units (CCUs), if staff nurses have the need for achievement, affiliation, autonomy and dominance, they can easily manage conflicts on a daily basis. If conflicts are not managed properly, it can be damaging as they waste a lot of energy and time. It evokes tension and stress which reduces the productivity, decrease creativity of those involved, and consequently failure to achieve the organizational goals. The study aims to: Determine the relationship between manifest needs and managing conflicts among staff nurses at C.C Us at Damanhour Teaching Hospital. Design: A descriptive analytical design was utilized to conduct this study. Setting: The study was carried out in all CCUs at Damanhour Teaching Hospital (n= 12). Subjects: All staff nurses (n= 157) who were actually working in the C.C.Us at the time of conducting the study were recruited. Tools: Manifest Need Questionnaire (MNQ) that was developed by Steers and Braunste in (1976) to measure various things individuals do or try to do on their jobs, Conflict Modes Instrument that was developed by Thomas and Killmann (2010) to assess individuals' behavior in conflict situations. Also, the demographic data were also surveyed. Results: The highest percent of study subjects (86.6%) expressed moderate level of total manifest needs with the total mean score of 68.7 ± 5.3. The most expressed need in high level was achievement need (72.6%) with the highest mean (20.5 ± 2.7) followed by Dominance, autonomy and Affiliation needs with the mean of 17.8 ± 2.7, 15.4 ± 3.4, and 15.1 ± 2.1 respectively. Generally, 82.2% of staff nurses were managing their conflicts in a moderate level. As for Avoiding, Collaborating and compromising modes were the most commonly used in a moderate level (89.8%, 88.5 % and 84.1% respectively). Conclusion: The highest percent of staff nurses expressed moderate level of total manifest needs and the most expressed need was achievement need. Moreover, The highest percent of staff nurses used managing conflicts mode in a moderate level and the most commonly used were Avoiding, Collaborating and compromising modes respectively. Also no significant relationships were found between staff nurses' manifest need and their managing conflict modes. Recommendations: Regular assessment of staff nurses' needs should be done. This could provide more accurate picture of how manifest needs and conflict management modes are interrelated. Development of training programs for staff nurses about different modes of coping with conflicts.

Abstract:Separation anxiety is a universal human developmental phenomenon that affects preschool age children and has a negative impact on physical, psychological, social and mental status of children. The aim of the study was to evaluate the effect of play techniques on separation anxiety among preschool children. A quasi experimental research design was used to achieve the aim of the study. This Study was carried out at two nursery schools at EL-Bagor and El-Batanoon, Menoufia Governorate, Egypt. A purposive sample of (n=100) preschool age children who have separation anxiety was selected from the above mentioned setting and divided into two groups; study group and control group 50 for each group . Two tools were used 1) A constructed interview questionnaire to assess; socio-demographic characteristics of preschool children and their mothers 2) Preschool children separation anxiety scale (mother version). The main findings of this study revealed that there was  a highly statistical significant difference in the level of separation anxiety  between the study group and control group post-test at p-value (0.001) .The  level of separation anxiety in the study group were decreased from 34% for moderate level and  10% for sever level  respectively to 0.00% post-test. It was concluded that the play techniques had a great effect in reducing separation anxiety disorder among preschool children .Recommendation: Generalize the application of play techniques to all preschool age children to reduce their separation anxiety.

Abstract: Systemic lupus erythematosus is an inflammatory disorder of autoimmune origin, characterized by multi-system involvement, which the immune system becomes confused because loses its ability to tell the difference between a foreign invader the body’s own cells and tissues, sending out auto antibodies special blood proteins that mark invaders for attack that actually target specific healthy cells and tissues in the body. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the effect of health education intervention on mothers’ performance of their children suffering from Systemic lupus erythematosus. Subjects and method: A quasi-experimental research design was used. Setting: The study was conducted at outpatient pediatric department of Tanta and Menouefia University Hospital The subjects: A convenience sampling of 40 mothers of their children suffering from systemic lupus erythematosus in the previous mention setting 20 children  from each hospital. Two tools were used in this study: Tool I: Socio demographic characteristics of the children and their mothers and their knowledge about the disease, Tool II: mothers' practice report related to Systemic lupus erythematosus .The result showed that significant improvement in mothers knowledge and practice regarding health education intervention of their children with lupus, Recommendation: Increasing educational  workshops and follow up about the disease will be helpful to identify and diagnose early cases of SLE children, and increasing survival rate of these children.

Abstract:Merely breastfeeding has been recognized as an effective feeding for the early prevention of infant morbidity and mortality. Immunological and healing properties of breast milk are unique and help healing of the wound. The aim of the study to determine the effect of various types of nutrition on healing of the wound for infant undergoing inguinal hernia repair.
Subjects and method: Quesi experimental research design used in the study. It was conducted at pediatric surgical department at Tanta University Hospital. A convenient sample of 60 infants during their first year of life: they divided into three equal groups: Group 1: who was received breast milk, Group 2: who was received artificial milk and Group 3: received complementary feeding. Three tools used for collection of data: Assessment sheet for infant, Nutritional assessment sheet and wound healing observation schedule. The results revealed that breast-fed infants had sound wound healing, low wound inflammation and fewer gastrointestinal disturbances than infants who taken artificial and complementary feeding. Conclusion infants who taken breast milk exhibited sound healing of the wound more than who received artificial and complementary of feeding.  Recommendation in-service training programs should be performed for mothers and pediatric surgical nurses about the benefits of breast feeding during infancy period.

Abstract: Neuroendocrine carcinoma (NEC) of the ampulla of vater is rare and highly aggressive malignancy. The patient was 40-years-male presented with complains of jaundice and pruritus. Laboratory investigations showed elevated levels of direct bilirubin, total bilirubin, alanine aminotransferase, urine amylase, lipase, and carbohydrate antigen 19-9. Imaging studies revealed a mass of 1 cm x 1.5 cm in the distal portion of common bile duct, dilation of intrahepatic ducts, common bile duct as well as pancreatic duct. Laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy was performed. Resected specimen revealed a mass of 2 cm x 1.5 cm in the distal common bile duct and ampulla. Histologically, the tumor cells were located in the ampulla; had small, round, hyperchromatic nuclei with scanty cytoplasm and were poorly differentiated. Mitotic activities were found in 15 cells per 10 high power fields. The tumor cells were positive for synaptophysin, CD 56 and CK 7. Ki-67 index was found to be 95%. The diagnosis of small cell neuroendocrine carcinoma was made. The patient was discharged on 15th post-operative day. Follow up computed tomography revealed solitary liver metastasis. He refused further surgery and is taking chemotherapy in the form of cisplatin and etoposide since last 6 month. Though rare, NEC must be in mind as a differential diagnosis. To the best of my knowledge, this is the rare case of small cell NEC of the ampulla managed by laparoscopic pancreaticoduodenectomy.

Abstract:Central venous access devices (CVADs) are used within a variety of areas in both hospital and community health care settings to administer blood or fluids, to provide long term access for repeat transfusion of blood or blood products, chemotherapy, parenteral nutrition and antibiotic therapy, and to provide immediate access in emergency situations. Nurses who are knowledgeable and competent in the basic aspects of CVADs care able to ensure specific patients' needs are met and prevent further complications. The aim of this study: To study the impact of Intensive Care Unit Nurse's knowledge on Care of Patients with central venous access devices. Subjects and Methods: A descriptive design was utilized at Intensive care unit in Benha University Hospitals and Zagazic University Hospitals. The study included 100 nurses who cared for patients undergoing CVADs insertion were enrolled in this study. Tools of the study involved sheet to collect data related to nurses' demographic data and implantable port catheter care knowledge questionnaire were utilized. Results: the impact of Intensive Care Unit Nurse's knowledge on Care Processes of Patients with central venous access devices the study revealed that two third of nurses received in-service training programs about the CVADs. Also, it revealed two thirds of the studied subjects have got satisfactory knowledge level. The present study showed high significant differences among the nurses' level of knowledge by their age and educational qualifications and total knowledge scores. Conclusion:  The majority of the nurses had got satisfactory level and there was significant correlation between the nurses' knowledge level and their demographic characteristics. Recommendations: An educational programs and in-service training courses should be provided to nursing staff working in Intensive Care Unit regarding CVADs implantation care according to the updated standards and guidelines.

Abstract: Options for prenatal screening have been progresses in recent years. It is important that pregnant women are well informed about benefits and risk of screening. Aim of the study: to evaluate the effect of regarding non-invasive prenatal screening tests counseling on pregnant woman's knowledge, attitude and anxiety. A quasi experimental research design was used.  A purposive sample technique was used to recruit 335 pregnant women. The present study was conducted at antenatal clinics and inpatient units for high risk pregnancy at Ain shams University Maternity Hospital. Four tools of data collection were used (Non-invasive Prenatal Screening Structured Arabic Interview Questionnaire Sheet, Non-invasive Prenatal Screening Likert scale, Pregnancy-Related Anxiety Questionnaire- Revised and Pregnant women satisfaction with counseling process). Results: shows that there was no statistical significant difference between control and intervention group regarding their knowledge and attitude before intervention. While, there was a highly statistical significant improvement on intervention group knowledge immediately after intervention and at follow up after 4 week. Furthermore, there was a highly statistical significant improvement on intervention group positive attitude immediately after intervention and at follow up after 4 week. In addition, anxiety of pregnant women on intervention group was significantly lower after counseling. Conclusion: the findings of the current study supported the hypothesis of this study which stated that pregnant women who had counseling have significant improvement on their knowledge, their positive attitude regarding non-invasive prenatal screening tests and their anxiety was reduce after counseling than pregnant women who received routine care.

Abstract:Stress is the process by which an individual reacts when exposed to external or internal problems and challenges. Stress has direct effect on all body systems, and it could result in many health problems. Stress in nursing education and clinical training is confirmed as one of the most pressing problems worldwide recently. Nursing clinical placement, especially in adult nursing has various challenges that could lead to very stressful feeling among nursing students. This study aims to study sources of stress and its levels among nursing students during attending adult nursing clinical placement. Method: A descriptive research design was adopted to conduct this study. Subjects: All students enrolled in second year were recruited from the Faculty of Nursing at the British University in Egypt for participation in this study. Data Collection Tools: Data were collected through using three tools as follows; first tool: Student's Demographic Data Assessment Tool, second tool: Stress Sources Assessment Tool; and third tool: Stress Related Signs and Symptoms Assessment Tool. Results: This study stated that, almost fifty percent of the studied sample had moderate level of stress during clinical placement. With regard signs and symptoms related to stress; the current study showed that, more than fifty percent of the studied sample developed physical signs and symptoms from stress. Meanwhile, more than one third of the studied sample developed moderate signs and symptoms from stress. Conclusion and Recommendations: The findings of the present study indicate that nursing students experienced different levels of stress, and the most common signs and symptoms result from stress are physical complains. This study recommended conducting further research to assess the coping strategies used by students. In addition, deliver series of sessions about different clinical teaching strategies for demonstrators that qualify them to deal with students who faced different stressors during clinical placement.

Abstract:Disasters represent unique challenge for every medical care facility. Nurses are important members of the crisis team. Therefore, they need to be able to use their skills and take prompt action to provide the care necessary for the people involved in the accident, in order to prevent exacerbation of the problem and its complications. Aim: This study aims to assess the nurses' perception regarding their role, preparedness and management skills during hospital disasters. Subjects and Method: The study was conducted in all departments at Tanta University Emergency Hospital (Medical, Surgical, Orthopedic, ICUs, Burn, OR and Emergency departments. Sample: A convenience sample composed of (424) nurses working in the previous mentioned settings. Tools: A Structure Interview Questionnaire, which consists of three parts: Part (1)Socio-demographic Data for nurses. Part (2) Disaster preparedness questionnaire sheet for nurses to assess nurses’ perception regarding their role, preparedness and management skills during hospital disasters. Part (3) Nurses' perception regarding selected disaster emergency nursing skills. Results: About two thirds (60.14 %) of nurses had high perception level regarding disaster emergency nursing skills. There was positive correlation between ages, years of experience and nurses' perception regarding their role, preparedness, management and emergency nursing skills during hospital disasters. Conclusion: The study revealed that there was a high level of nurses' perception regarding their role, preparedness, management and emergency nursing skills during disaster situations. Recommendations: This study should be utilized broadly to create awareness to all nurses and nursing educators by enhancing their profession’s capability and competency through training and educational program about disaster management.

Abstract:Community Based Training Program is one of the community practices of the nursing students in the nursing curriculum in order to render services to the community people. The main purpose of Community Based Training Program is to apply the theoretical that is learned in the classroom into practice. Community health nurse is a blend of primary health care and nursing practice with public health nursing. They conduct a continuing and comprehensive practice that is preventive, curative, and rehabilitative. The researcher utilized a qualitative study framed within phenomenological perspective used a semi-structured, in depth individual interview, observation and document analysis. There are 31 participants selected through purposive sampling who agreed to participate in the study. The researcher ended its data gathering when the researcher determined that there is already saturation of data. The participants were graduating nursing students of Madda Walabu University Goba Referral Hospital, College of Nursing in Ethiopia who had their Community Based Training Program last October 2017. The researcher interviewed the participants to gather the data. Thematic analysis was used to interpret and analyzed the data while using the seven steps used in Collaizzi’s approach.

Abstract: A medical equipment that provides Cardiopulmonary bypass, (temporary mechanical circulatory support) to the stationary heart and lungs. Heart and Lungs are made “functionless temporarily”, in order to perform surgeries as coronary artery bypass grafting. Its benefit is allow doctor to operate in a blood-free area, should contribute to less surgical error. Its major complications or disadvantage is Pumphead” syndrome-some effect can include defects to attention concentration, short term memory loss and fine motor function. Nurses carry the responsibility about the early recognition and/or detection of Pumphead syndrome among postoperative cardiac patients, nurses—who spend more time at the patients’ bedside—play a crucial role and knowing these risk factors can reduce the incidence of it. Since nurses are in close contact with the patients, they would able to observe and report neurological assessment as level of consciousness, they easily recognized decreased level of consciousness, additional the behavioral changes due to delirium fluctuations. Critical care nurses often manifested delirium in three modes: hyperactive, hypoactive, and mixed. Hyperactive delirium, which is easily recognized, is accompanied by symptoms such as irritability in behavior, hallucination and delusion. On the other hand, hypoactive delirium is presented by withdrawal symptoms, decreased attention, and decreased motor activity. They take their attention regarding symptoms of hallucination and delusions are less common and require more nursing care. In the future, the heart-lung pump will hopefully become portable, allowing for paramedics to aid heart attack patients on the scene, for instance. Also, the device will be further developed to allow for less brain damage after the surgery.

Abstract:Nursing practice is an integral part of nursing education in which faculty staff assistants play an important role. The present study aimed to developing and validating an evaluation tool for faculty staff assistants by students at the faculty of nursing Ain Shams University. The design of this study was a methodological research, with stratified random probability sample were used to select the students sample. Three groups of sample were included, 30 experts, 35 faculty staff assistants and 468 students with response rate 94.3% for students. Findings indicated that the developed tool is valid and reliable through full acceptance by juries. The majority of faculty staff assistants agreed on the importance of evaluation tool items. The result of test retest reliability are strongly correlated (correlation= 0.944) and the reliability coefficient for the instrument was 0.973. It is recommended that the designed tool have to be used by the faculty of nursing, be revised periodically, be given sufficient time to complete the form and avoid conducting evaluations immediately before or after a final exam. The students and faculty staff assistants have to be oriented to the evaluation process. Also the designed tool could be generalized to other nursing faculties.

Abstract:Colostomy may be the best and safest form of treatment for a number of conditions including rectal cancer, trauma, or inflammatory bowel disease.
Aim: To assess the effect of educational guideline on the quality of life and self-efficacy for adult and adolescent patients with colostomy.
Study design: A correlation descriptive research design was adopted in this study.
Setting: The present study was conducted at the Outpatients Clinics in El-Demerdash Surgical Hospital and Pediatric Surgical Department Children's Hospital, affiliated to Ain Shams University.
Subjects: A purposive sample composed of 90 patients (45 adults & 45 adolescent) with colostomy, six months or more after finishing chemotherapy and-or radiotherapy, both sexes and their age not less than fourteen years. 
Data collection tools: 1) Interview questionnaire, 2) Quality of Patients’ Life Questionnaire, 3) Stoma Self-efficacy Patient Scale and 4) Patient Skin Assessment Observation Tool.
Results: The present study revealed that, mean ages of patients of the current study were 42.67±8.3 and 15.82 +2.03 for adults and adolescents respectively, more than half of the patients were males. There was a highly statistically significant difference between levels of knowledge, there were highly statistically significant differences between patients' quality of life as well as between self-efficacy of patients with stoma pre, immediately and one month later after implementation of educational guideline.
Conclusion: Application of the educational guideline has a positive effect on enhancing all aspects of the quality of life domains (physical well-being, psychological well-being, social well-being and spiritual well-being), and all aspects of the self-efficacy (physical activity, psychological activity, social activity, colostomy care and preventing complications) for both adults and adolescence among patients with colostomy.
Recommendations: the educational guideline for patients with colostomy should be applied to improve patients’ condition, quality of life and stoma self-efficacy, and there is a need for a simplified illustrated and comprehensive Arabic language booklet to be distributed to those patients and used as a reference.

Abstract:Fluid balance is an important concept for maintaining normal body function and consistency especially patients with critical illness. Aim: to determine the effect of an instruction intervention about body fluid balance assessment on knowledge and practice among nurses in intensive care unit. Design: quasi experimental one group Pretest - Posttest research design was utilized. Sample: a convenience sample of nursing staff (79 nurses) working in intensive care unit at Menoufia university hospital have an instruction intervention about body fluid balance assessment. Tools: two tools were utilized for data collection; tool 1: Structured interview schedule which divided into two parts; part 1: characteristic of nursing staff, part two : Structured interview questionnaire to assess nurses' knowledge about body fluid balance. tool 2: Observational checklist to assess nurses' practice for assessing body fluid balance that divided into three parts; part 1: assessment for patient’s fluid status. part 2: measuring of fluid input, part 3: measuring of fluid output. Results: There was a significant improvement of nurses' knowledge and practice regarding fluid balance assessment in intensive care unit after implementing an instruction intervention. Conclusion: Implementing an instruction intervention about body fluid balance assessment for nurses who working in intensive care unit leading to increasing level of knowledge and improving nurses' practice when providing patient care. Recommendation: Training and education about body fluid balance assessment at intensive care unit is a very important for fostering high standards of nursing practice and patient care.

Abstract:Constitutional exercising is regarded as an efficacious tactic, frequently endorsed in general practice, for the prevention and management of post-menopausal osteoporosis. Whole body vibration (WBV) is a contemporary type of exercise that has been repeatedly tested for its ability to prevent bone fractures and osteoporosis. The aim of the current meta-analysis is aimed towards understanding the influence of WBV treatments in leading to optimum BDM outcomes in healthy post-menopausal women aged >65. A literature search was conducted with the following key words such as “whole body vibration”, “bone mineral density”, “bone density”, “postmenopausal”, “elderly” from Cochrane Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), MEDLINE and EMBASE database up to December 2017. Change of BMD of the femoral neck and lumbar spine were evaluated. Meta-analysis was made using Meta-Essentials. The analysis of the data showed that the WBV stimulation when related with healthy postmenopausal women aged >65 years did not produce a significant development in BMD values at the femoral neck and the lumbar spine. 

Abstract:The school remains a natural channel through which the dental hygiene and prevention of caries of the child can be improved with the children as the natural agent to change. Aim of the study: To determine the effect of health promotion intervention to prevent dental caries among primary school children. Design: A quasi-experimental research design was used for this study. Setting: This study was carried out in two governmental primary schools; Zahraa Helwan and Omar Ibn Al-Khattab at Wady Hof District in Helwan, Cairo Governorate, Egypt. Sample: A multi-stage random sample was used. The total number of children was 480 both boys and girls. Tools: Three tools were used in this study: Tool one: An interview questionnaire which consisted of the following parts: a) Sociodemographic data of studied children. b) Knowledge of studied children about dental hygiene and dental caries. Tool two: Children Attitude Likert Scale Toward Dental Care as reported by children. Tool three: Children Practice Likert Scale Regarding to Dental Care. Results: The current study revealed that, 81.9% of studied children had poor knowledge at pre intervention, which improved to 79.4% and 76.2% in post and follow up intervention respectively. Almost three quarter of studied children (74.4%) had a negative attitude toward dental care in pre intervention, while in post and follow up interventions 84.4% and 81.2% respectively changed to positive attitude. The differences between pre, post and follow up interventions were highly statistically significant (P<0.001). Only one fifth of studied children (20.6 %( had adequate practices at pre intervention, which improved to most and majority of them )91.2% & 88.1%  (in post and follow up interventions respectively to be adequate practices. The differences between pre, post and follow up interventions revealed highly statistically significant differences (P<0.001). Conclusion: The application of health promotion intervention increased children's good level of knowledge, positive attitudes and adequate practices related to dental hygiene and prevention of dental caries. Recommendation: The importance of the continuous implementation of school based programs should be highlighted in order to promote dental health, trying to spread the practices of good dental health care to as many children as possible.

Abstract:One of the policies that guide Kenyan’s, public health facilities is to always keep in stock an identified limited range of drugs that can manage the most prevalent diseases around. The purpose of the study was to evaluate how procurement process determines stocking of essential drugs in public health facilities. This study was a cross-sectional descriptive study conducted in six public health facilities falling under Mvita Sub-County. Saturation sampling was used to sample 66 respondents including 30 pharmacy personnel, 6 heads of procurement department and 30 other staff in the procurement department. Questionnaire was administered to pharmacy and procurement staff while heads of procurement were interviewed.  A checklist was used to obtain data on the availability of essential drugs. Data was collected for a period of ten months between December 2015 and September, 2016 and analysed using descriptive statistics with the aid of SPSS v20.0. A reliability coefficient of α = 0.712 was obtained.
The study found that majority of the public health facilities in Mvita Sub County do not have adequate staff to carry out the procurement process. The study further found that forecasting is not based on statistics from various authorized and credible organizations (Mean = 2.38±1.166), they do not use up to date statistical tools to forecast for our demand for essential drugs’ (Mean = 2.40±1.061) and that they do not use well established forecasting guidelines (Mean = 2.50 ± 1.255). Drug selection is done in a systematic manner with more emphasis on essential drugs’ (Mean = 2.55±1.064).

Abstract:Workplace violence against nurses is acknowledged as a continuously rising occupational hazard that requires a great attention worldwide. It is adversely affects quality of care and nurses' quality of life. Aim: Determine pattern, prevalence and risk factors of workplace violence among nurses in outpatient clinics. Design: Descriptive cross-sectional design. Subjects: Two hundred nurses working in the outpatient clinics of 4 general hospitals that selected using multistage random selection from Menoufia Governorate hospitals, Egypt. Tool: A structured interview questionnaire that derived from a questionnaire developed by International Labor Office, WHO, International Council of Nurses and Public Services International; and translated into Arabic language and validated by the researchers. The data collected was socio-demographic, workplace violence data, workplace characteristics, risk factors of workplace violence and consequences of workplace violence. Results: Most of nurses (96.5%) hadn't previous training about workplace violence, 79.0% were exposed to workplace violence, and the common type of violence was psychological 77.8% and sexual 8.9%. Sources of workplace violence were patients 45.6% and patients' relatives 43.0%. The consequences of WPV were psychological disturbance 44.9%, lack of desire for work 25.3%, absence form work 11.4% and increase the level of carefulness and alertness 18.4. The factors that might increase workplace violence in outpatient clinics were: at nurses' level, low level of educational; while at workplace level: restriction of patient care fees to specific place, work shifts, unknown procedures for reporting workplace violence, shortage of nurses, lack of safety measures, and unsuitable waiting place for patients. Conclusion: workplace violence is alarming and highly reported by nurses in outpatient clinics. The common type of violence was psychological and sexual-violence. The risk factors that might increase workplace violence were low level of education, work shifts, unknown procedures for reporting workplace violence, shortage of nurses, lack of safety measures, and unsuitable waiting place for patients. Recommendation: Effective educational preparation and training for nurses concerning strategies for prevention and reduction of violence are essential; develop workplace environment with enough safety measures, policies and procedures for managing workplace violence and enhancing public awareness about nurses' role are also emphasized.

Abstract:The Cerebral Palsy Center works closely with rehabilitation, including occupational, physical and speech therapists under a good regulation.
Objective: To evaluate Current setup, of rehabilitation center people suffering from cerebral palsy in Sudan and in Saudi Arabia.
Methods: This normative descriptive study which has been conducted in Sudan and Saudi Arabia on July/2015 – July/2017.  This study used Questionnaire Employees (64 in Sudan total converge and 67 provider in Saudi Arabia) mothers, observational check list, focus group discussion (9 in Saudi Arabia 15 from Cheshire, 10 from Sudan Down syndrome, and 6 from Sakena center) and interviews with directors of the rehabilitation centers in Sudan.
Result: Physiotherapist, nurses and occupational were dominating in Sudan and Saudi Arabia also academic qualification diploma and B.sc were dominating and   the majority of experiences less than 10 years in both samples, all services are available for rehabilitation centers in Sudan and in Saudi, there are no differences in health services, physiotherapy, psychotherapy, transportation, social therapy, nutritional services, entertainment and pharmacy services in Sudan and in Saudi. 
Conclusion: No differences in setup, in Sudan and Saudi.

Abstract: Rehabilitation is the process by provide therapeutic doses and programmed for individuals with simple to complex illnesses and injuries to facilitate their treatment and return them to normal situations or to enable them to live with society as much as possible.
Objective: To evaluate policies, of rehabilitation center in Sudan and in Saudi Arabia.
Methods: This normative descriptive study which has been conducted in Sudan and Saudi Arabia on July/2015 – July/2017.  This study used Questionnaire Employees (64 in Sudan total converge and 67 provider in Saudi Arabia)  and interviews with directors of the rehabilitation center.
Result:  There are significant differences in key performance, transparency, sport & social initiative, participation in social event, ethical behavioral and integrate disable person in community with the best way.
Conclusion: There are no significant differences in overall policies of rehabilitation centers in Sudan and in Saudi Arabia.

Abstract:Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training has been inevitable procedure for students in clinical skills’ training centers. Station training method is performed to improve nursing students' competency and to be familiarized with equipment and procedures. Aim: This study aims to evaluate the effect of station training method on nursing students` competency regarding CPR. Subjects and Method: This study was used A quasi experimental design to collect data from fundamental lab and clinical pediatric laboratory skills for second year students in Technical Institute of Nursing at Tanta University affiliated to the Ministry of Higher Education. Sample: A convenient sample of 240 students (2nd grade), from the mentioned previous setting. A systemic random sample was selected from the total sample to be evaluated in clinical setting (n=150). Tools: Two tools used for data collection, Tool (I): "A structure interview sheet for nursing students" to assess students about cardiopulmonary resuscitation for adult and children. Tool (II): An observation checklist to evaluate students' performance regard CPR for adult and children Results: There was a statistical significance difference between pre / post intervention training period at level of total knowledge and practice as regards CPR for adult and children, whereas observed improvement was indicated post training. Conclusion: station training method had a positive effect on nursing students` competency regarding CPR for the adult and children. Recommendations: There is a need for continuous training on CPR using new training methods and it must be included in undergraduate curricula of nursing students.

Abstract:Sleep is a normal process that repairs body functions including health of the immune system. Human Immuno-deficiency Virus people have a high prevalence of sleep disturbance due to unique factors. Behavioral intervention is known to be an effective method for improving sleep quality in these people. Aim: This study was conducted to examine the effect of a behavioral nursing intervention on promoting sleep pattern and daily living activities among human immunodeficiency virus patients. Design: A quasi-experimental design with pre and post-test was used. Setting: The study was conducted at the counseling and investigation unit in Tanta fever hospital, Al-Gharbia Governorate. Sample: Purposive sample consisted of 116 of Human Immunodeficiency Virus adults attending the counseling and investigation unit were included in the study. Tools: It included structured interview questionnaire, Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index scale (PSQI) and Katz Index of Independence in activities of daily living scale. Results: This study showed that about three-fourths (72.4%) of the study sample had poor sleep quality and 7.8% were moderate dependent in their daily living activities. Furthermore, there was a significant improvement in sleep quality and sleep pattern at post intervention compared to pre-intervention. Moreover, there was a significant improvement in the level of independence in daily living activities at post-intervention, compared to pre-intervention. Conclusion: Behavioral nursing intervention was effective in promoting sleep quality, pattern and daily living activities among human immunodeficiency virus people. Recommendations: Behavioral nursing intervention and awareness program about sleep promotion among human immunodeficiency virus patients in outpatient and counseling clinics are needed.

Abstract:In health communication researches, there have been various qualitative and quantitative studies on breast cancer. However, there is paucity of research investigations on the sources of breast cancer information among rural women, preferred sources and the interaction of this information sources. This study therefore, investigated the interaction of these different information sources regarding breast cancer among rural women in Kenya. This study was anchored on the convergence model by Lawrence Kincaid. It employed descriptive survey design, which made use of the questionnaire, focus groups and interview schedule to achieve the objectives of the study. The total number of subjects examined in this study was 284, of which 272 were questionnaire respondents and the extra twelve were interviewed. Simple random sampling techniques were used to select the questionnaire respondents in Kesses sub-county, Tulwet and Megun wards. The findings revealed that majority of the respondents (97%) were aware of breast cancer but many of these respondents were not sufficiently knowledgeable of the disease. It also reveals that information sources such as mass media and interpersonal channels are crucial health communication carriers for breast cancer interventions. It was suggested that mass media messages be included as key components of comprehensive approaches to improving breast cancer care among women. This is essential because mass media messages can directly and indirectly produce positive changes or prevent negative changes in health-related behaviors of rural women in Kesses sub-county. It was also recommended that Healthcare professionals increase the awareness of BSE among women living in rural communities. This can be achieved through fusing together pamphlets, brochures or booklets and radio stations because most villages in Kenya have vernacular radio stations. Health education efforts should be customized to suit the local population.
