Abstract: Renewable technology provides clean, abundant energy sources derived from self-renewing resources, with the rapidly increasing demand for electricity; it is quickly becoming the best option for electrification, particularly in rural areas. This paper shows that Potentiality and Feasibility Study of a Hybrid PV/Hydro/Biomass optimizing System for Remote Area Electrification, which is found in this area at high energy and has no electricity access from grid connection. The incoming average solar energy has been converted in to 5.16kWhm2/d . The flow rate of Naso River was found 1.22m3s from the flow rate of Gigel Gibe I using through empirical area ratio method. Monthly average biogas feedstock (i.e. cow dung), the site is 1.35 tonnesday .  To produce 18 KW from Solar PV system 416 modules, having 83m2  area and Solar insolation at the site during the worst month at July is 3.86kWhm2/d  was used. From point of optimizing energies through homer software, the designed peak power demand at installed capacity is around 116 KW. Since EEPCO can sells for urban is 0.025$kWh  and for the rural is double price that is 0.05$kWh  by considering transmission line cost, maintenance cost and transportation cost. The hybrid system is cost would found around 0.031$kWh . So that from Economic Point of View the hybrid system is more feasible.

Abstract: In this paper, based on Jumarie type of Riemann-Liouville (R-L) fractional calculus and a new multiplication of fractional analytic functions, we solve two types of fractional definite integrals of fractional trigonometric functions. The exact solutions of these two types of fractional definite integrals can be obtained by using integration by parts for fractional calculus. Moreover, we give some examples to illustrate our results. On the other hand, our results are generalizations of the classical calculus results.

Abstract: Small-scale farmers and other applicators employ the lever-operated knapsack because of its versatility, cost and design. Apart from drudgery, lack of pressure control is the single biggest limitation in the use of these sprayers as it leads to variable flow rates (dosages) of chemical preparations, inconsistent spray pattern and spray droplet size, all of which affects spray coverage and chemical performance. A steady pumping rate cannot be maintained by the human hand. The result is misapplication of chemicals and ineffective control of the target pest. This study has evolved a novel innovation that operates at constant pressure thereby offering uniform deposition of herbicide leading to better weed control and improved agricultural productivity in Nigeria. It is conceived to reduce drudgery encountered in using the conventional lever operated knapsack sprayer, through discarding the manually operated piston and diaphragm pumps. The design and installation of a matching rechargeable battery and DC pump proposes to reduce operator’s task to only carrying the tank and spraying with either of the hands. The steady pumping powered by a DC rechargeable battery ensures constant pumping pressure and uniformity of spray droplet deposition. This project is anchored on improving agricultural productivity and food security in Nigeria through appropriate technology provision. It is intended to offer a cost effective machine to effectively address crop protection in Nigeria and other developing countries.

Abstract: Scarcity of seedlings of several crop varieties during each farming season, impacts negatively on agricultural production in Nigeria. Uncontrolled sun drying in the open and uncontrolled solar drying render excessive heat to the seeds thereby killing the embryo and making the seeds good for consumption only. Over the fire grate drying practiced by peasant farmers do not provide enough seeds for cultivation. The lack of technologies for commercial seedlings production is a setback to crop production in Nigeria. An auto-regulating solar dryer for variety seedlings production was designed at National Engineering Design Development Institute (NEDDI), Nnewi, National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), the Presidency, Abuja, Nigeria. It is a requisite technology to curb excessive drying and consequent destruction of seed embryos. The automatic regulation enables the production of healthy seedlings for cultivation. Maize is employed as the grain sample in the design. The equipment can readily process other grain varieties once the requisite settings are adjusted. All aspects of engineering design as a many-sided and wide-ranging activity were covered in the holistic design but this work presents the design with pertinent considerations, constraints and calculations in the key arrears of dryer design like: air densities, drying rates, moisture content to be dried, mass and heat transfer and the quantitative determination of the solar energy to achieve drying in the area occupied by the seeds.

Abstract: In the present study, heat transfer characteristics of natural convection of air through 7x7 horizontal bank of tubes of 1cm diameter are studied numerically using Ansys-Fluent CFD code. Both the inline and staggered arrangements are considered. The study is carried out under constant heat generation in the tubes. The study is carried out at different spaces between the tubes in both the horizontal (longitudinal) and vertical (transverse) directions. The results of thermal and flow fields are obtained for each case. The effect of the longitudinal and transverse distances, S_L and S_T respectively, between the tubes on heat transfer is obtained for both the cases of inline and staggered arrangements. The studied range of both S_L and S_T is 1.2 to 4 cm. The results show that the heat transfer rate increases and the temperature decreases as a result of increasing the distance between the tubes in both the longitudinal and transverse directions. The effect of the longitudinal distance between the tubes on heat transfer is more pronounced than the corresponding effect of the transverse distance. Staggered arrangement has better heat transfer characteristics than the inline arrangement. Two correlations relating Nusselt number with tube spacing, one for the inline arrangement and the other for the staggered, were derived from the present results. Ideal tube spacing for the studied range of S_L and S_T was determined for the two arrangements.

Abstract: Garbage disposal is now a worldwide concern. Huge volumes of waste generated every day are disposed by means that cause adverse environmental effects. According to the UN, between now and 2025, the world population will increase by 20% to reach 8 billion inhabitants (from 6.5 today). In Basilan Province, of the estimated 3,000 tons of garbage generated daily in 2020, approximately 300 tons per day is recycled or composted. The remaining is either hauled to dump sites or dumped illegally on private lots, or irresponsibly thrown into rivers, creeks, and oceans. In order to achieve the goal of reducing pollution, recycling techniques uses the trash to cash approach. The Vending Machine will be composed of three main parts: the vending machine (1), the control center (2), and the bottle acceptor unit (3). The proponents of the study have adapted the Prototyping Methodology as guide in the development of the Vending Machine. A version of the system is developed in system prototyping to quickly check the customer’s requirements and the feasibility of some design decisions. The Reverse Vending Machine was able to satisfy the objectives of the study with respect to the scope and limitations provided. The tests done confirms that the device is accurate in reading RFID accounts, distinguishing plastic bottles from other materials, adding points, and dispensing products.

Abstract: Due to the increase in voltage instability problem and power losses in Nigeria grid are a serious operational challenger facing electricity supply utilities. The Nigeria 330Kv power grid was used as a case study for the evaluation of the proposed power loss reduction system a simulink model of the Nigeria 330Kv transmission system with the proposed neural network controlled TCSC integrated was created in the MATLAB/SIMULINK programming environment. Genetic algorithm was used for optimal placement of the FACTS device in the MATLAB/SIMULINK model of the Nigeria 330Kv transmission system .The proposed approach has been implemented on IEEE 67 bus system, 39 load points, 111 transmission lines and 14 generators. The simulation and evaluation were carried out with TCSC installed with each variation of the load at the bus; load flow is run to determine total system losses. Findings showed that the proposed neural network controlled TCSC to Achieved an average active power loss reduction of 13.11378 (p.u) and average reactive power loss reduction of 78.16378 (p.u). This shows that TCSC reduced both active and reactive power loss in the system.

Abstract: The training Kits is the best option for training specialists in the automation and control, which allows you to work out practical skills and actions in non-standard situations. A process control trainer kit is one of the important kites which are widely used in several engineering disciplines such as Mechatronics Engineering. A Remote Access process control lab is provided utilizing the benefits of Microcontroller applications and LabView server/Client configuration using WiFi connection or Internet connection. To realize such this solution, a PIC microcontroller DAQ device with LabVIEW software linked to a standard PC is designed and developed. Furthermore, a process control trainer kit is fabricated in which temperature and level are controlled over wireless Network connection.
