Abstract: For effective training in technical fields, it is necessary to individualize the teaching process for better support of learners and quality learning. To do this, the supervisor who is the teacher must have under his guidance a non-overflowing workforce as provided for in the legal texts to enable him to achieve the objectives he assigns to his lessons in the time allotted to each of the didactic sessions he has with his students. Technical education being more based on know-how and know-how-to-do beyond knowing how to be, in this work, we show the need to respect the number of students in a class and the consequences that result from it.

Abstract: This article is based on the mismatch between access to technical training and access to employment for young adults in the city of Likasi. Africa in general and the Democratic Republic of Congo in particular is mainly populated by a predominantly young population. As a result, these young people need employment and adequate training to have access to work in order to make themselves useful to themselves, their society, their homeland and all humanity. This article shows the difficulty that young people experience in having access to training and employment.

Abstract: This study investigates awareness level of education technology lecturers on artificial intelligence (AI) innovations in universities in South-South, Nigeria. The research comprises three objectives and research questions, and one null hypothesis, employing a descriptive survey design. The population includes 1,990 education technology lecturers in South-South Nigeria, with a purposive stratified random sample of 199. The data collection utilized an instrument named Awareness of Education Technology Lecturers Questionnaire (AOETLQ), employing a four-point Likert scale expressed from Very high level to Very low level. The reliability index of the instrument was 0.72. Face and content validity were established by experts in measurement and evaluation of the University of Port Harcourt. Statistical analysis employed mean, standard deviation with hypotheses tested using ANOVA, at a significance level of 0.05. Findings indicate a Strong awareness of artificial intelligence innovations among education technology lecturers. Although senior lecturers were more positively influenced, the difference was not significant. This minimal influence indicated no substantial variation among the different ranks of lecturers. The study therefore recommends that senior lecturers should collaborate with their colleagues in using artificial intelligence innovations. The Universities should provide trainings, and workshops to support professional growth.

Abstract: Discourse markers are essential elements in both spoken and written English, playing a crucial role in organizing discourse, expressing attitudes, and signaling text structure. Despite their importance in achieving fluency and communication efficiency, the use of discourse markers is often overlooked in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) instruction. This paper explores the functions and significance of discourse markers in EFL teaching, reviewing existing literature on their use and the challenges learners face in acquiring them. It highlights the insufficiency of current teaching methods and textbooks in addressing discourse markers and offers pedagogical recommendations for integrating them effectively into the EFL curriculum. This paper advocates for a pragmatic approach in teaching discourse markers, supported by appropriate textbook selection and AI-assisted tools to enhance students’ understanding and application of discourse markers.

Abstract: With the continuous development of global society, the acquisition of second and even multiple languages has become commonplace, leading to the rapid advancement of third language acquisition (TLA) research. This study investigates the acquisition process and phenomena of language transfer among learners whose L1 is Thai, L2 is English, and L3 is Chinese, using word order acquisition in Chinese as the focal point. Through qualitative research, it is revealed that learners compare linguistic features across the three languages to identify similarities and differences, forming an overall perception of linguistic distance, which informs their transfer choices. In acquiring Chinese word order, L1 transfer plays a dominant role, with learners demonstrating a general resistance to L2 (English) transfer. The influence of L2 is mainly observed in lexical transfer. These findings diverge from the dominant theoretical perspectives in current syntactic transfer models for TLA. Additionally, the foreign language learning experiences and strategies accumulated during L2 acquisition promote learners’ metalinguistic awareness, further facilitating their Chinese acquisition.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to investigate the prosociality among 91 college students in Sabah, Malaysia, who completed the 16-item Prosociality Scale online.  Data were analyzed using SPSS 26.0.  Kruskal-Wallis H test revealed no significant differences in students’ prosociality by way of age and ethnicity, while Mann-Whitney U test showed no significant differences in terms of gender.  Additionally, Wilcoxon signed rank test, which was conducted to determine the level of significance of each prosociality item by using a hypothesized value of 3.5, showed that all items were significant at p < .001.  Moreover, the overall mean of students’ prosociality was 67.4, indicating that their prosociality was of average level.  In light of the findings, some recommendations were made on how to improve college students’ prosociality.

Abstract: The purpose of this conceptual paper was to present the implications of three leadership styles on higher educational institutions (HEIs) in Malaysia. Relevant articles were downloaded from JSTOR, Google Scholar, Emerald, and ERIC, focusing mostly on peer-reviewed papers published between 2020 and 2024.  Further, a thematic analysis was used to categorize the literature by leadership styles, including servant, democratic, and transformational. Secondary findings indicated that these leadership styles tend to significantly shape institutional culture, faculty morale, and student outcomes, with context-specific implications on HEIs in Malaysia.

Abstract: The "Intercultural Communication" course focuses on interactive communication behaviors in different cultural contexts and the underlying ideologies and norms that inform these behaviors. This paper outlines how the course integrates local multicultural resources into the teaching practice to cultivate students' intercultural awareness and cross-cultural communication skills. In the early stages of the course, students are guided through textbook cases to observe behavioral norms and taboos across cultures, helping them decode the core values of different cultures that influence these norms. Mid-term, students work in groups to create 5-minute bilingual promotional videos, filming and explaining local tourist sites in Zhaoqing with connections to Confucianism, Daoism, Buddhism, Christianity, and Islam. In the final stage, peer and instructor evaluations contribute to their overall course grade, with the evaluations as an integral part of the final assessment. A key aspect of this practice is the insightful interpretation of differences between target and native cultures in the initial stages. By having students search for information and engage in filming, the course fosters enthusiasm for promoting traditional Chinese culture, empathy and inclusivity toward multiculturalism, and the unification of cross-cultural education and communication.
