Abstract: The purpose of the study was to explore continuous assessment activities and learners’ academic performance: A case of six selected secondary schools in Solwezi District of North-Western province. The objectives of the study were: (1) To identify the types of continuous assessment activities undertaken in selected secondary schools in Solwezi District; (2) To determine the extent to which Headteachers support continuous assessment activities in selected secondary schools in Solwezi District; (3) To establish challenges faced by schools in undertaking the continuous assessment activities in selected secondary schools in Solwezi District. The study employed both qualitative and quantitative methods and a descriptive survey design that sampled Head teachers, Deputy head teachers, Heads of Department, teachers, and Grade 9 and 12 pupils from the selected schools. Data was obtained from the respondents using interviews and questionnaires. The data was analyzed by the use of the software; Statistical Package for Social Sciences (version 26) and Microsoft Excel (version 16). Frequency tables, graphs, figures, and pie charts were also used to analyze the qualitative and quantitative data.  The study findings indicated that Continuous Assessment activities undertaken in six selected secondary schools in Solwezi District included weeks five (5) & and ten (10) common tests, and end-of-term tests. The study also found that teachers did not frequently conduct continuous assessment activities. They relied on testing as directed by the Education Assessment Policy of testing the learners three times in a term. It also indicated that there is often inconsistency among the Head teachers in the depth and frequency of their monitoring, leading to disparities in the effectiveness of assessment oversight across different schools. The study also made recommendations on the exploring of continuous assessment activities and learners’ academic performance.

Abstract: This study examines the integration of moral education into workplace English teaching, a critical endeavor in the contemporary educational landscape. The primary objective is to explore practical strategies for seamlessly embedding moral and ideological elements into workplace English courses. Utilizing a case study approach at Zhaoqing University, the research comprehensively analyzes curriculum design, teaching methodologies, and instructional materials. Key findings reveal that integrating moral education enhances students' ideological awareness, cultural understanding, and professional ethics, enriching their learning experience. This integration is achieved through innovative teaching methods, including using current events and cultural content, and focusing on developing students' practical communication skills. The study underscores the importance of educators' pedagogical skills in effectively conveying moral education within the context of language teaching. The implications of this research extend to the broader field of higher education, highlighting the necessity of moral education in curriculum development and the potential of workplace English as a medium for this purpose. The findings contribute to a better understanding of how moral and academic education can be effectively combined, fostering the holistic development of students in a globalized world.

Abstract: This study focuses on the integration of phonics in English education in Chinese primary schools. Against the backdrop of globalization, English education holds a pivotal position in the Chinese primary education system. Phonics, as an English reading teaching strategy, has achieved notable success in Western countries, especially in native English-speaking nations. Given the significant linguistic differences between Chinese and English, this study explores the applicability and integration strategies of phonics in the context of Chinese primary English education through systematic theoretical analysis and literature review. The study points out that despite challenges, phonics can effectively enhance the comprehensive English capabilities of Chinese primary students with appropriate adjustment of teaching strategies. Additionally, the study discusses how to combine phonics with traditional Chinese English teaching methods to better adapt to students' learning habits and cultural backgrounds.

Abstract: The study adopted convergent parallel research design, a mixed research approach that involved both the qualitative and quantitative data collection methods. A total of 104 respondents were involved in this study. The participants were selected using simple random and purposive sampling techniques. Data was collected using interviews and questionnaires. Its include two Secondary School in Mbeya city .Both secondary school data source were utilized in the study, primary data was obtained through questionnaires, which was used to acquire quantitative data while qualitative data was obtained through a semi- structured in depth questionnaire and interview. Quantitative data was analyzed through the SPSS and presented as frequencies, percentages, and correlation output on table, and while qualitative data were sorted, placed under broader themes and presented as direct quotation upon content.  Data findings reveal that over all there is a great correlation between substance use and early onset of sexual engagement in Urban Mbeya city. It is also clear from the finding that, risk factors have directly or indirectly impacts on students’ academic achievement and destroy their better future but they differ in the level of occurrences. The study recommends that, it is the time for the government to introduce the curriculum on Psychological and Psycho-social skills

Abstract: Over the past few decades, the topic of disasters has always been discussed around the world. The schools are facing problems regarding the undesirable effects of disasters. The researcher took interest in how the schools of Carmen 2 District dealt with the pressing issue. The study focused on the program initiated by the Department of Education, the SDRRMP. A total of thirty (30) DRRM coordinators, physical facilities coordinators and school heads were selected as research participants. The study used the adopted survey questionnaires from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (NDRRM) Plan. The study utilized the mixed method of qualitative type of research and descriptive-survey method. The weighted mean was used as a statistical tool in the study. The salient findings of the study were the following: The participants assessed their level of capabilities in the implementation of DRRMP with regards to human resources, material facilities, knowledge and education, policies, plans and procedures which were verbally interpreted as moderately implemented (MI); the respondents assessed the implementation of DRRMP in terms of prevention and mitigation, preparedness, response, and rehabilitation which were verbally interpreted as moderately implemented (MI); and the most prevalent challenges encountered by the school heads and teachers in the implementation of DRRMP are lack of DRRM teachers’ training, lack of inventory, vulnerability and risk assessments of school buildings and infrastructures, unavailability of resources to implement DRRM plans, programs, and activities, unclear funding source to sustain DRRM plans, programs, and activities and lack of parents’ engagement to support DRRMP.
