Abstract: The pertinence of the roles of teachers at all levels of education should never be undermined. Teachers are professionally trained to see to the mental and moral development of people in the society, by imparting into them knowledge in various fields. In every nation therefore, teachers are cornerstones of all other professions such as doctors, lawyers, accountants, bankers, ambassadors, police, army, journalist, and politicians among others. For teachers to be effective and yield desirable results in the society, they must perform their duties efficiently. However, adequacy or inadequacy of teachers remains a major determinant factor for teachers’ efficiency or inefficiency at all levels of education. On this background, this research work discusses appraisal of the sufficiency of Teachers of French language in Junior Secondary schools in Niger State using the selected local government areas within the state. The methodology adopted for the research is the case study research method, while the major instrument used to collect data for the study is questionnaire. The research findings showed that, in spite of the fact that National Policy on Education (NPE) makes French a core subject at Junior Secondary School, teachers of French in public and private schools in Niger State are not sufficient compared to other subjects. The study further showed the level of negative impact of the insufficiency of teachers on the students’ academic performances in the language thereby causing discouragement in many students to continue with French at Senior Secondary School level. The alarming consequence of this is the low enrolment of students for French language at various higher institutions (Colleges of Education and Universities) in the country.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine Malaysian teachers’ attitudes toward autism spectrum disorder (ASD) using the Autism Attitude Scale for Teachers. The scale was administered online and SPSS 26.0 was used to analyse the data.  Mann-Whitney U, a non-parametric test, was conducted on ASD attitudes to determine if there were any significant gender differences, while Kurskal-Wallis H, another non-parametric test, was conducted to determine if there were any significant age and experiential differences in ASD attitudes. Findings showed no significant gender, age and experiential differences in ASD attitudes. Further, descriptive statistics revealed that teachers obtained low scores on ASD attitudes, indicating that they tended to hold less favourable perceptions toward ASD. Recommendations on how to improve teachers’ ASD atttiudes were provided in light of the findings.

Abstract: The purpose of this conceptual paper is to examine the implications of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (SDG4) Quality Education on higher educational institutions (HEIs) in Malaysia.  Secondary research was conducted to establish a conceptual framework; relevant articles were downloaded via Google Scholar, ResearchGate, ERIC, Science Direct, JSTOR and other websites.  Several issues and challenges in relation to SDG 4 were identified.  In light of the secondary findings and implications, some recommendations are made on what measures HEIs could undertake to promote SDG 4 more effectively.

Abstract: This study focuses on exploring the potential impact of Chinese regional dialects on the accuracy of English pronunciation among college students. It aims to reveal the relationship and underlying mechanisms between dialects and English pronunciation. By systematically examining dialect characteristics and English standard pronunciation requirements, a theoretical model of dialect interference in English pronunciation is constructed and a corresponding analytical framework proposed. Empirical research findings indicate that dialects significantly impact college students' English pronunciation, reflected in aspects such as speech perception, pronunciation production, and memory. Specific phonetic features in dialects, such as tone and phoneme differences, can lead to confusion or deviation in English pronunciation. Additionally, the study finds significant differences in the degree and characteristics of dialects' influence on English pronunciation across regions, providing a basis for developing differentiated teaching strategies for English education. Based on these findings, the study proposes several recommendations, including strengthening the comparative analysis of dialect and English pronunciation differences, adopting targeted pronunciation training methods and techniques, and using modern educational technology to assist pronunciation teaching, aiming to effectively support the improvement of college students' English pronunciation accuracy.

Abstract: With the advancement of globalization, the quality of business English teaching significantly impacts students' future workplace competitiveness. This study focuses on the theory of formative assessment in business English classroom teaching, aiming to explore how to comprehensively and dynamically evaluate students' learning processes through formative assessment to improve teaching quality. By systematically reviewing relevant research at home and abroad, this article constructs a theoretical framework for formative assessment in business English classroom teaching and elaborates in detail on the definition, characteristics, principles, and specific implementation methods of formative assessment. The research finds that formative assessment can provide real-time feedback on students' learning status, help teachers adjust teaching strategies, and stimulate students' self-learning and reflective abilities. In practical applications, various evaluation methods, such as observation, feedback, self-evaluation, and peer evaluation, complement each other, forming a relatively complete evaluation system. Additionally, the study points out that the current evaluation system needs to strengthen systematic construction, enrich the diversity of evaluation methods, and increase training efforts for teachers. With the continuous updating of educational concepts, formative evaluation of business English classroom teaching will play a greater role in improving teaching quality and promoting students' comprehensive development.

Abstract: The purpose of this study was to examine the job satisfaction of 60 private college lecturers from two Bornean states of Malaysia, by administering the Job Satisfaction Survey. A Mann-Whitney U test was used to determine if any significant gender differences, while a Kruskal-Wallis H test was used to determine if any significant age and experiential differences existed in the job satisfaction of college lecturers.  Significant age differences were found in the domain of coworkers, while significant experiential differences were found in the domains of benefits and coworkers.  Additionally, Wilcoxon signed-rank test using a test value of 4.0 revealed that eight out of the nine factors of job satisfaction in terms of agreement/disagreement were significant. Mean scores on all nine factors were low, indicating that lecturers experienced low job satisfaction.  In light of the findings, several recommendations were made to improve the job satisfaction of private college lecturers.
